The SM was Motor Trend Car of the year in about 1972, but I'll bet it takes as much as it sold for on EBAY to get it running good. Better know two mechanics one named Jacque and another named Luigi. Parts are expensive too. I'm in the Citroen club, own a rare 1964 Chapron bodied DS convertible. There haven't been actual Citroen dealers since the mid 70's so it is down to keepers of the torch for mechanical work, and a strong club of fanatic owners keeping the Citroens going. Seems the meets have more restored cars than ever though, not everyday drivers, after all these are all classics now. But I'm not sure there is much new blood, mostly the same ageing bunch of Citronauts. I have a 2CV Truckette too. But hey.....I've been lurking around here for over a year, in my youth I had 356's and lust after a replica one of these days.......
Lets see if this works, my first post of a photo. I've owned this car for 32 years. It won the National Citroen Concours so many times, they asked me not to enter anymore to let someone else win. It did well in numerous other car shows in a category like European Cars 1955-65. In these kinds of shows Porsche would of course have its own category, Citroen gets lumped in with all the more obscure marques. I think it is one of the most beautiful convertibles ever...especially for a 4 seater. Front wheel drive, front wheels are wider apart than the back wheels, great for parking and U turns......hydraulic suspension, straight 4 with hemi heads, and a weber..... Over 30 mpg..... Disc brakes all around, of course Michelins. It was "the" most aerodynamic car in 1964, better drag coefficient than even Ferrari...note the same fog lights as found on 356's. Oh, and you can change a tire without a jack!!! The Convertible DS was a custom car made by Henri Chapron, only 1300 were made between 1959 and 1972......Chapron took the Cit station wagon's chassis, motor & front up to the doors. The Cabriolet doors were made from 2 doors..2/3 of one's front and 2/3 of another's back to get a 1 1/3 wide door, the back of the car is all custom behind the doors. It has an aluminum hood & fiberglass trunk lid. Really cushy French seats & suspension, one of the most comfortable cars ever. Second photo was in amuseum show for the 50th anniversary of the DS.

Here is a recent article from Automobile magazine on the DS convertibles.
