Howdy,
The Lovely Miss Sharon and I just finished driving one of the tour routes we will take during our September gathering and I want to pass on a few notes for any of you attending:
1) Bring a light sweatshirt/sweater AND a light windbreaker. Our weather changes in an instant!
2) have a couple of umbrellas as it usually sprinkles every afternoon from 2:00 to 2:30 in the mountains (might be a good idea to bring a chamois, too)
3) be sure your valves are not too tight! At this altitude and climbing all the time our engines tend to overheat if the valves are running too tight.
4) Check you tire air! At this altitude your tires will INFLATE about 5 ot 6 lbs while you are in our area. If you leave them that high you will have a rougher ride than necessary
5) DO NOT worry about readjusting your carbs. They may run a bit rich here but no harm will be done on these short drives. (Lots of coasting downhill!)
6) if you are trailering the hotel will have some room for trailers and you are welcome to leave your trailer in my pasture ( 3 miles from the hotel )
7) bring a camera! I guarantee you will want to take many pictures and your wife will love the shopping we have planned for her along with lots of "visiting" time.
See you in September!!!!
Dusty and LMS
