Wow! I have been on the road for the past week and just now had a chance to look at recent postings. I must say ... I am shocked! I asked for INPUT and IDEAS to improve our annual gathering. Instead I find that the entire Event has been HIJACKED! If you wished someone else to run it the honorable move would have been to say so and I would have been happy to assist a new director.

I can only suggest remembering that this is an Event and it is a long drive for many members just for a car show and dinner. A full bar is not an important ammenity for most.

On another subject (and another thread)... Scott Cramer has forwarded his Justin Winery letter and their response to me and I have sent him the facts. Ask him to post my response.

I wish you the best of luck with the new Event and will plan to attend just for the relaxation without responsibilities.

Now, back to our trip........

Oh boy.....I can see how this could go in the wrong direction real easy....Gerd, stay away from this thread, you can only escalate what I am talking about..

Dusty, what Jen has done is give us a viable alternative to what we have done the last 3 years and has no reflection on you personally, or what you have done... You are the consumate organizer. Some of us, me included, are ready for a change. You said yourself we should come up with some suggestions....
I agree a "Car show" will get boring real quick for me also. but some like sitting around chewing the fat, while others (like my wife) prefers driving through little towns spending money in antique shops...So we gather, B.S., have a drink or three and then those who like the wine thing or the canyon jumping (i'm in for this) do their thing....
This event is for all of us, and I for one can prepare a year in advance to spend a few extra bucks due to the change in season prices, the Banquet facilities or a fancy room on the ocean.

Lets see how many others chime in with their thoughts about what Jen has suggested and perhaps the picture will become clearer....

"We don't need a Poll. We need the folks who want a change to step up to the plate. If you REALLY have a good idea please post it with details and let us ALL consider it and look into it."

Jen, I think you did just as Dusty asked based on the above quote from one of his prior postings.

Dusty, It looks as though Jen posted her ideas on here as you requested and I didn't take it as she was trying to hijack your event. Based on the response you get from everyone when you enter the room or arrive at a rally point, coupled with the complementary postings on here about you, LMS and all your efforts, I think you have a lot to be proud of and should be flattered by your standing in the group. That hasn't changed! These are thoughts and suggestions only at this time...No more, no less!!

Please keep all this in perspective and don't get the feeling you're being discarded. I for one value everything you've done and hope that you will continue to be the glue that helps hold it all together. I was truly impressed by all your efforts, especially since you put it all together from such a long distance.

Words of wisdom.... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" That works for cars and some other things, but I prefer "If we don't continue to strive for perfection, we are doomed to accept mediocrity" Which is where we might end up if we don't listen to suggestions of others.

That being said, I am happy going along with whatever the group wants to do and will offer my services in the area to whoever is trying to set things up.

Scott
