Aloha....Made it to Maui, almost a 6 hr flight sitting next to Gerd,
another 2+ hrs in the airport sitting next to Gerd, another hr waiting in line for a rental car, standing next to Gerd....
He's killing me......
If I make it through the next six days, I'm going to need a vacation..

Not to mention, the airline lost Ol Debbie....
She wanted to come along, and I didn't have the heart, stomach, or any other organs, to say no....now she's lost somewhere in the airport system....They asked me what she looked like and I just shook my head and told them they'll know when they see her....

OK, so Kirk (VS) suggested we cool off after the museum at a place called the "Rudder Room" which I am told is about 15 minutes (give or take) from the Museum...It is located on the water in Oxnard, at the channel Islands....It's a dive bar that serves above average food and you sit in the sand...can't beat that with a stick....

Here is just one of the reviews...
We absolutely LOVE this place. Where else can you sit on the sand with a drink and watch the sunset with your dog! Drinks are cheap. People are down to earth. Bring cash, cuz they don't take credit cards. We always bring friends visiting the area to the Rudder Room for sunset.

I am suggesting we do lunch or whatever the meal is after the museum.

I called the museum and they say tickets MUST be purchased in advance, So you will need to go on line and get your tickets ASAP if you want to attend....they are $10.00 ea

Our usual meeting place at 10:00 is TOPANGA RANCH MOTEL in Malibu
a few hundred yards North of Topanga Blvd on PCH.....

Did you all order tickets for the 10am or 12:30 time?

On their webpage, it asks you what time, and if you all ordered
the 12:30 tickets, then we'll be sitting around for a while.

Vince - I think Chris Robertson (550 Spyder) and his right-seater, Rebecca, are planning on joining us. I will give him a holler to go online for tickets.

Are the tickets that you bought for the 10:00 or 12:30 tours. I guess we should make that determination and adjust our rendezvous time accordingly. Would hate to show up for the wrong tour time.

All the tickets I have say 10:00, so I guess we need to move up the time at the motel to 9:00.....
When I ordered them I wasn't asked what time i wanted to go, I assumed they were General Admission and any time was OK...
At least that will put us at the right time for lunch afterwards

They are not very explicit as to how the thing works, do they walk you around or are you on your own, Perhaps we need to meet at 8:30 just to be safe......I will try and contact them tomorrow and get details....

It's 40 miles from Topanga Ranch Inn to the Mullen Museum in Oxnard, easily a 50 minute drive.

Let's meet at the Topanga Inn 08:00-08:15AM (YIKES!!) and leave no later than 08:30. Taking into consideration the traffic and traffic signals, this should give us enough time to make it to the Mullen Museum on time without having to make it a kamikaze run. Traffic shouldn't be too bad on the PCH at that time in the morning.

Looking forward to the Mullen Museum and hanging out at the Rudder Room for lunch. Then on the way back south maybe we can do a quick cruise through Mulholland. Just a thought!

Since we need to be at the Topanga Inn (Malibu) much earlier than anticipated, it would probably be better (time-wise/logistics) if we all just met in Malibu directly (instead of meeting in Seal Beach).

Looking forward to cruising PCH with you guys!

Ok, I need an SOC fix! Not sure we can make it that early to the museum (duty calls with the 16 yr old), BUT, would love to meet for lunch? what time approximately do you think you will be to the restaurant? what I can do is call Vince or Jim and get an eta. then we can head up there....

OK, so I spoke to the people at the museum, we can arrive anytime we like, and roam around at our leasure....
The reason they have two start times, is so everyone does not show up at one time, but basically they do not have an actual tour....
I suggest we go back to the 10:00 meeting at Topanga, arrive at the Museum around 11:00, and lunch immediatly afterwards at the Rudder Room....
She also said there is plenty of parking....

I had problems getting my ticket, on line, and decided to call the Museum. They said, you can purchase the tickets at the door also.

Just make sure to take some pics of everyone at Topanga, a few of the drive, smiling faces at lunch, and some on Mulholland. That way I can know exactly how much fun I missed. Have fun, and be safe.
