Not sure where this goes, and maybe nowhere as this has nothing to do w/ Speedsters.

The other day I was headed north on I95 toward B'more at the usual 80 mph, formation flying w/ all the other idiots. Wa in my real car, so this REALLY is not a Speedster story. Traffic was heavy, but behaving. Out of nowhere on my right, between me an the others comes a motorcycle, going at least 20 mph faster, maybe more. I mean this jerk was haulin' A, as they say, weaving in and out, not a foot between him and the other door handles. Unbelievable. Then I notice him up ahead looking to weave over to the right, finding little spots in the flow to inch over a lane at a time, all the while slowing down. As I come up to him as he reaches the shoulder, I see sparks nicking off the pavement from the exposed end of his drive chain, dragging on the ground. So now I wonder where in hell was he going so f-ing fast that now he is not going to get there? Too bad. I suppose he is lucky that this was a fail-safe event for him, but I think it might not have been that way. What does a motor cylce do at 100 mph when the back wheel locks up? I'd bet it is not pretty.

No Mike, that's what happens when the FRONT wheel locks up.
I was out riding a few weeks ago with some friends of mine. We were going down a two lane road and ahead of us was a semi, a Nissan and a Mini. My buddy pulled out and passed all three. Then the Nissan, the Mini and I pulled out to pass in that order. Once we were past the semi we tucked back in. When I saw all was clear I pulled out to pass the Mini and Nissan so I could catch up to my buddy. I passed the Mini no problem. As I was passing the Nissan the F'n idiot guns it! I was doing 105mph to get by that a$$h--e!! When we reached a traffic light a mile or two down the road we waited for him to come up. One of my buddies got to him before me and needless to say the guy in the Nissan wasn't expecting the verbal assault. I think he thought he was being cool, but he was really being reckless. I was pinched. It was just as dangerous at that point to brake and try to tuck in (because of road conditions) than it was to accelerate more and pass.
The thing that most people on the road don't appreciate about bikes is the accelerate faster, are much more nimble, and can stop pretty quick too. That said, it's no excuse for riding like an idiot. Though being a two wheel fan, I wish people were more respectful of motorcycles. However, I would NEVER ride between traffic like that guy was, that's just asking for it.
anyone who's ridden will know - it's not if you'll crash, but when.

I officially threw in the towel after a race. was about 2 seconds from not making a big corner (leaning the bike as far as it goes - tires still sliding).

i remember nearly throwing up in my helmet - that's how close it was.

Never again - too much to live for to risk that stuff. I consider myself lucky.
For those of you who have not been in California, "white-lining" is legal. If I understand correctly. motorcyclists are actually allowed to zip along on the white lines between lanes. It's a little unnerving the first time you look to change lanes and this happens. Can't imiginae how many accidents are caused from this, especially by tourists. Maybe the laft coast guys can explain how this law works.
My trips are mostly to Italy these days and motorcycles zipping in and out of traffic over there is not just common, it's mandatory!!! Mopeds, too! Scares me to death ~ especially when I'm looking down on the bike and I KNOW the bus driver doesn't know it's there. Funniest thing is when you see the women in HEELS on the mopeds and bikes!
When they actually have to stop for a light ~ out comes the expensive stilletos from under the blanket that is on their lap! The guys on the crew are usually drooling and making comments... I, of course, am admiring the shoes!!! ;)
I've driven the NJ Garden State Parkway once a week for many years. Traffic usually is moving 75-80 MPH on four lanes. It isn't uncommon to see two or three rice burner bikes swerving thru all four lanes doing at least 100 MPH. It also isn't unusual to see them doing wheelies when a little more space appears in their current lane. I have no sympathy at all for idiots like that if they crash.
I was watcin Letterman last nite Showing Danny Way the scate board champion doing stunts on 100 ft high ramps popin up ovever 30 ft higher . Jumpin from helicopters?,, to the top of the ramps
