Hi gang,

The 9 month odyssey in subjecting Henry to 134 colour changes, constant phone calls and numerous 'hits' to the I/M web site - I took delivery of my chiffon-white 356 with tan accent trim as per Dan Palmquist's sister ship!

I went for the full ensemble guys: a/c, great tuneage, whitewall tires, 2100 cc plus engine and a killer luggage rack with tan leather straps that looks very Louis Guitton (or someone like him)...

My office building is only about 4km from Henry's 'North Pole' factory, but wouldn't you know that at 2pm today the sun was shining, and my new '356' was 'begging' to be driven; along the Second Narrows and Upper Levels Hwy, and back across the Lion's Gate Bridge to make it way back to my office.

Don't you just love those serendipitous 'off the beat and track' drives?

I have attached a few quickie photos, and just wanted to thank ALL of you who contributed to this experience - particularly Dan and Jim.

Henry is truly a rock star to deal with - I just didn't think they made people like him anymore. He is proud of his craft, customer-centric in ways I couldn't believe, and I will forever be an ambassador for the I/M brand.

Here's to hitting the Long Beach hwy with you all soon...

Ray, welcome and i look forward to seeing Dan's Northern Twin soon, where are the pix bro... Henry builds a sweet ride and you should be proud of yourself for it too. Just like my homie said earlier, I bet you STILL have that "S.E.G" (Sh8T eatting Grin) on your face even after you have parked it and walked away..

P.S. how many times did you turn around and look at it before you FINALLY closed the garage door!

Welcome,

Speedster "D"
Hi Dan, Jim, Ricardo and David...

Thank you for your enthusiastic wishes and welcome by this unique fraternity/sorority of folks who share a similar love of a legendary automobile!

I popped by Henry and I/M yesterday - and we tweeked a few things (and made Henry shimmer and shake when I jokingly asked if it was 'too late to change the color...')...

Interestingly, as I pulled away - I felt both elation and sadness.

Elated for the obvious reasons of that throaty, 'Joan Jett' baratone muffler sound behind me and the roar of the powerband...

Sad because Henry made the buying experience so personal...so intimate - and I will miss the nuance of our love for the process.

Having said that, gang...you are right. The smile appears on the face and it is difficult to erase, unlike the warm memories of the adventure of getting it to this finished stage.

Can't wait to break bread and share a good drop of red with you guys at a future gathering...and best to you always...

Ray

This is a co-ed site here, lets try to keep it clean.....

Ray -- about the sh**-eating grin badge thing; I'm proposing the design on the right for the 2007 Club badge. Sorry for the misunderstanding. There was a thread here a while back about the "Speedy Grin" we all have when we're circling our cars prior to firing them up -- that's where the drawing came from.
If it becomes official, we'll all have 'em, but right now they're only theoretical.
Makes for some pretty cool wallpaper on the old computer, though.
Ray, keep looking at Projekt Hoopty updates in the Technical General section. When I finally get done with this nightmare project, the handicapped guy sticker on the dirver's rear fender will come off. I'll also be shooting at least one video of the big event. After that, there's nowhere I won't drive to for a cruise -- within an 18-hour radius of Washington, D.C., that is.
