Off to buy a Speedster...

I am off to perhaps make a new perchase? it's a beautiful silver 03 "vintage" with 2300 miles on it. Leather seats full tonneau and CD stereo/ alarm... I've been tire kicking for 16 years now I think it's time to make my move don't you? I just love the color combo/ silver/blk. I will be the new kid on the block with a new Speedster! Well I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow weeeeeeeee!!!!!! I can't believe how cool this car is!!!! When I drove home from T.O. I almost caused an accident because people are not looking at the road there looking at my speedster!!! I am very very happy with the quality of the car very real looking extreamely fun to drive! It's been 16 long years and now, it's in my garage safe from the weather... All the best out there! Regards, robby.

Thanks for the support, I to had a 63 356 B in 74 I was 18 years old just out of high school. I told my self I would buy one again some day... The day is here!!!!! I have to stop a pinch myself and say "it's here in your garage" I will be going for a cruz today and then waxing it up... I have been looking a the kit market for a long time the first one I saw was in 1990 and I just about fliped-out! I thought it was a real one, So I have been looking for 16 long years now and now it's in my possession... Silver/blk with all the badges and cool as hell! All the best you guys! My first choice was gray black like you,I really wanted that combo.The wife wasn't as eager to get a speedster like me until I kept showing her cars in other colors.By me asking for her opinion on colors made buying it a smooth family buying transition if you married men know what I mean.We both love the classy ivory color and tan top.And I'm just glad to have a speedster. Now she loves being driven around in it,I'm glad because it makes her feel good too.

Joe I'm glad for you; my car is almost identical to yours but in that department I haven't been as lucky; my wife doesn't really care about the car, which is one of my passions. In fact she doesn't show any interest at all in anything...pretty frustrating.

Silver/Black was my first choice for color too. I was lucky enough to find a beautiful black/tan though.

I got lucky I guess with the wife. She loves the car, can drive a standard, and doesn't care to learn.

I had a 69 911 that I got rid of because my wife never wanted to go in it. The car basically sat in the garage to the point where it was losing value and never being used. I dumped it and got a convertible thinking she would like that better. Now the complaint is that the wind damages her hair. SO now I got the ultimate in wind damage for long hair which is a speedster. I am cruising solo until one of my kids is old enough to cruise with me. Maybe it is not such a bad thing !

Impala,sorry about your situation.I had a 1500 Vulcan Kawa that my wife never wanted to go on,so I sold it.I know how frustrating it can be to be around somebody that doesn't want to do anything.Might have her see a doctor for some pergestorone for women.....did I spell it right ?....that stuff perked my wife up....seems that women in their 40's and up get some positive results from it........about the hair getting messed up.....my wife wears a beanie or baseball cap and doesn't complain...I think she's smart because I mentioned that if she wouldn't ride around in it like the Vulcan that I would just have to find somebody else to ride with me...not meaning that I would leave her or anything like that......it's just nice to share the feeling with somebody else.

Andres, thanks for the boost, you made me feel better. Know what Joe? The funny thing is that sometimes I get "indecent proposals" to ride with me by other women....I should've had this car back when I was single......

I know what you mean,I had a strange girl come up to me and ask me if she could drive the car,never seen her before or knew her....of course I said no.....I did give my aerobics instructor a thrill a few days ago and took her out for a ride.My wife didn't mind even though I didn't tell her first and she found out during class the instructor made the announcement that I took her for a ride and how much she loved it......I felt the color of red come upon me......yikes!!!!!

I started this topic with "Off to buy a speedster" and now it's all about chicks, wifes, color of speedsters, Don't get me wrong, I love what I'm getting here! I got mine around 12/10/05 and everytime I open the house door that leads to the garage and see it parked in there....I just say WOW in my mind can't believe it's really there.The past couple of weeks it's been a daily driver with the top up since it's a little cool still.The rain is here again,still been able to log on 2900 miles since picked up.

Next month it will be 2 years since I got mine,and everytime I open the garage door I always look at my speedster first.It drove me crazy for 2 1/2 weeks when my car was at the shop for a new engine.

I have had mine for almost two years and like the others, every time I open the door to the garage, I say to myself Wow I really own a speedster.

I've been wondering if I'll ever get tired of it.Wondering if the WOW will ever not be there when I look at it,I hope not.I already want another one in a different color.Even dreaming of buying 10 of them and opening up a speedster rental company here on the northern cali coast....imagine having 10 different colored speedster to drive....of course it's only a dream ....I don't have $200,000 plus to invest in my dream.What an awesome business that would be....and all a business write off.What if I could afford 20 of them?????

Robbie, nice start to a nice thread here... I hope you bought Todd A's. Speedie.. He's been on this site looking for a good home for a sweet looking tub for awhile now.... Everyone on this site is like a kid in a candy store.. I love my new Speedie and I've only had it for a week.. everyday I wanna get up and rush out to the gargage, just like your first new bike! As for the wife you were mentioning... She is coming along ok. she wasn't totally against it, but was upset that I bought it without her complete approval.. My bad I guess but I did not want to lose this one.. Plus it was the right price point for me too. She is turning the corner now because she mentioned this weekend that she will have to buy a hat when we go on rides! Yahoooooo.. Looks like I have a right seater folks!

I rarely keep a car more than a few years, but I've had MR356 for about 4 years with no plans on changing.....Cruised it down to Pedro to see the Queen Mary 2 on Saturday, I'm not a ship guy, but any reason to get it out is cool....

Thanks Vince, I am loving every minute of it man... I have already lowered the front end about an inch and a half.. looks even sweeter now... I just love that low-ride look... The wife seems to be coming around.. she actually mentioned this week that she'll have to buy a hat for this car.. that's a good sign! I am not too worried about that, she did hate my Harley at first too! LOL..

David, I bought Todd's very I mean VERY VERY clean 03 vintage speedster! You guys I can't believe this, I feel the same way when I got home I went in the garage just to see my little tubby all cozy from the rain and took a soft towel to wipe off just a speck of dust from the car cover that I removed, I know that the new car thing will wear-off at some point however, I do know that I have been wanting one for better then 16 years now! The car is just as I would have ordered it even with the 1776 with dual port carbs... I will have pic's soon I promise! I'm just wandering where this entry will lead now????? Regards, robby. Hey Robbie, I was looking at Todd's car too, and I gotta tell ya.. That is one sweet ride my freind... When you get the chance you have to work your way down here so we can hook up and share our big fat smiles that no one can wipe off our faces... I am so much like you guys here.. I still do not beleive it's mine.. LOL.. I've never had so many neiebors drive though my alley so slow before... Heads turning.. I am gonna make a sign that reads... "Just stop and ASK!" My best run-in yet was a sweet older women at the store. As I walked up she was actually taking pictures of my car.. OMG I thought to myself.. Turns out she was from Belgum and her son had a Speedster back in the day.. I shared with her that it was a VS Replica and she was shocked at the detail and craftmanship.. (Congrats Kirk & Crew) of the car itself.. She left with a large smile on her face, but not as big as mine!

Let your wife pick the hat, but YOU buy her a lovely silk scarf. The message with the silk scarf is 'it will keep your smooth while we are together in the speedster and nothing but silk is good enough for your skin.'

Trust me. Silk scarves are the bomb! I wear mine every time I drive th spyder. Use it to tie my cap to my head. I need the cap because I sunburn so easily... The scarf keeps it on so both hands can stay on the wheel and the silk feels just smashing!

Back to the comment of women being attention whores..that's a tough label.....aren't men too....when women lose a man to another women isn't because the new flame is giving more attention....that makes all us males attention prostitues too..what man doesn't like attention especially from the opposite sex......unless you are one of those sweet pants.....what speedster owner (man or woman) doesn't jump into his speedster expecting some attention as they drive around???The only men that wouldn't want any attention are those on the FBI'S 10 most wanted list........so I think that statement about women being attention whores is a very inappropriate comment.

Now, now, guys... You guy are so funny!!! I love this... I am soooo glad I bought my Speedster and I diden't do it for the chicks and Im and single guy! I sold my Harly because everybody has a harly!!! I bought my Speedster because I had an old 356-B just out of high school and I thought I will get one of those and I will be the first kid/guy on my block to have a turn key speedster! Yeah, chicks dig my car however,"I DIG MY CAR"! and that what matters... I like to drive long distances and I froze like a popcycle or I baked like a cake. With the speedster, top up or top down, It's all good and you don't look like a biker you look cool like Elvis or james Dean or you! Don't get me wrong, we all like to look good ether with are speedsters or just with are ladys! Let's just look good no matter what... rotnroby.

How much time do you spend looking at yourself in the mirror?
How much time does it take you to comb your hair?
How much time do you spend shopping for clothes?
How many times do you look in the mirror changing the "outfit" you put on 5 minutes ago? do you change the outfit you put on 5 minutes ago because it makes you look fat....

The list could be longer, but I think you get the point. But its very sweet of you to stick up for them. I love women too...

Because a woman is different and spends more time in front of the mirror and everthing else doesn't make them what was said......women spend time in the mirror to look good for their man.....also because women are katty and are always judging each others appearance.....that's the way they are made.................how many of you guys would want to take your wife out to breakfast immediately after they woke up in the morning?? What do you say????...No honey don't have time for makeup or to pick decent clothes to put on just put your work out sweats from the gym........Women are different that's what makes them women....Women also want to like nice out in public......I also didn't buy my speedster for attention,although it's fun geting it now.......I also had a Vulcan 1500 with cobra pipes....loud machine.....wore my leather jacket......but I didn't like the image and the attention I got from it..........so we are all different.......where are the women here,how about some backup power?

I once read a description of the differences between a man's thinking and a woman's. It was a simple question asked at an outdoor bar-b-que. Actually, I'd love to get in my speedster and drive around without the waves, looks, and inane chatter. But that's just me. It was fun for about a month.
