I've not been on the forum for a while, infact this is the first time since I finished building my Chesil last year! For now, I've only got a few pics on my laptop, so these will have to do. As soon as I've got some of the engine, interior and chromed / engraved petrol tank (yes really!), I'll post them up.

Mark, I really like the colors, and the piping/ trim on the seats, but the steering wheel appears to be on the wrong side......oops.
I like Michael's car, especially that third shot, but the car that sticks out in my mind is a black beauty that I think used to belong to John Leader......In a sea of speedsters, that one stuck out from the pack...I used it for my screen saver until I bought mine....
(Although mine was not as pretty, it didn't seem right using someone else's when I had my own)....

Michael - I've just been thru' your folder, your car is awesome! Do you have any specs on it posted on the net anywhere, I'd love to read more about it (engine specs / performance, wheels, brakes, etc).
Thanks!

Okay, I can't resist. The red one is five years ago. The one with me in it was last year and the other one is from yesterday. They're all the same car, but this thing's got a way of evolving every time I look the other way. Woo-hoo! Mid-Atlantic folks, look out -- I'll be an autocrossing fool when she rolls out in April!

Ok, just got back from the Wichita Falls - World of Wheels car show. My father-in-law asked me to attend with him, as he has a 37 Ford Coupe and 28 t-bucket... It was a lot of fun, but my feet were killing me after 3 days. I drove the car there from Grapevine, about an hour and 45 minute drive. The weather was great, had the top down and got tons of looks and waves. One kid even rolled down his window so that he could yell out nice car while we going 70 mph! The trip back was another story

The World of Wheels folks probably would have picked you over some old Mercedes, anyway. You've got my vote! Love the additional vintage looking kit and cans!
Just mounted my new wheels and thought I'd add the latest pics to share with you all. I love the way they fill out the wide flares. So far in the last 2 days, I've walked out to my car (3x) after being in a restaurant, store, etc.. to a crowd of 3-4 people standing around looking at it. Questions and compliments follow -- man, I feel like a rock star! :-)

Spring is here and the sun is shining. Went out yesterday and my face still hurts from the grinning. This afternoon will be another jaunt down the byways of Northern California.

Drove around the other day too! The weather was a perfect 64 with just a few clouds to shield you from the sun...the next project is to get that windscreen cut mounted and installed.
Theron, that 3rd picture would be my submission to next years calendar - what do you think?

Adrian -
I'm not a wide-flares kinda guy, but I gotta say your car is TIGHT, my brutha!
I luv the look of the blacked-out Porsche 5-spokes on your ride. If I got a wide-flare, I would set it up like yours. NICE!
Hope to see you and your car at one of the cars meets in the future!

Jim,
Thanks for the comp! I like both the flared and the slab-sides. Maybe someday I'll have one of each (hey, a guy can dream right?)!!
BTW, I noticed from your pics folder that you do a lot of cruising in Orange County. I work in Irvine so I'm pretty close by. Maybe we can meet up locally somewhere sometime. I don't usually take the Speedie to work because I'd end up walking out every 10 mins to make sure she's ok! But - I took her out today because the news this morning reported that today is supposed to be the hottest day of the week.
Can't wait to cruise home -- Gonna take the long way today. :-)

Hey Adrian!
What a bitchen day to drive your tub. The weather couldn't be nicer, what is it today, 78 degrees under a clear sky?
You'll have to make it some morning to the Crystal Cove car meet here in Newport Beach. We could hookup for a cruise down the coast from there. We might be able to coax Dan P. (the IM with the ultra cool whitewalls) to join us (or any other interested parties in the area).

A perfect 72 degree sunny day here in Pa.
I decided that today was ..."the day" and ran AL Shapiro's Street Beasts Speedster for it's first lap around the neighborhood... nothing fell off, leaked or caught fire :) Sorry no pics as Carlisle will be it's first showing.

Jim,
Just say the word and I'm there!
Ricardo,
Thanks for the comp! I always liked the Fuchs look and I'm really happy with the way they turned out on my tub.
Like I said before, flareside or slabside, they're all good to me. These Speedsters are like women - they're all different but I love 'em all...

Hey Luis!
WOW! Nice car! The rear fog-light is a very cool detail.
Man, if I had the money and a storage area, I'd have 4-5 speedsters incorporating all the cool details I've seen on this SOC site. Drive a different one each day, depending on the mood.

Glad to see you're back on the road! What great looking scenery to enjoy your mobility!

NOW I have a photo worth showing off! It looks kind of like a car again 'cuz we hung the doors last night. I think they look much better ON the car than they do in the attic.
(Uh, except for the minor embarassment of the enormous gap at the top of the driver's door ...)

Cory - you're ride is really coming along nicely! I really dig the style you are going after. Ever thought about putting together a video documentary of the project? Progress photos could be swiped thru a slideshow with narration and such... it'd be a great watch for sure for us tub fans.

When I get around to reading my camera's manual, I hope to find the part about "How to make a video clip for the SOC Web site." I hadn't really thought about a slide show, but I am making a clamp-on tripod mount for the driver's side roll cage -- so I can capture video clips of some of the fantastic roadway twists in Northern Virginia.
Thanks for following the progress!

Cory,
was checking out your door pic and you are right, you will have to grind on the hinge itself. I had to do the exact same thing when I replaced broken hinges on mine, held it out about the same as yours. If you go too far, you can shim it with washers to the desired depth.
