That has Vince's name written all over it!
Gents,
On the way to the OR tomorrow. I plan to have Alemite grease fittings installed on both knees. I'll have some free time for awhile to contemplate the the various routes South on the Parkway. Damned...no eating or drinking until the the knee is repaired. Look Out Possum!

Ok,
I just put in my request to finish up my hitch on September 7. That should give me enough time to get home, unpack, re-pack, and head to Asheville with the wifey. Hope to see you crazies there.

Sweeeeet! Can't wait to see you and the lovely Miss Christine again.
Lane! I just tried to book my room for the 8th to the 11th and was told the 8th was not covered by the group rate and that Thursday night would be $199 instead of $145. What the "F"?

I told Donna that the main nights were the 9th and 10th, but that some would arrive on the 8th, and possibly stay through the 11th. She was supposed to set up "shoulder dates" on which the rates would be available for a few rooms. I will have to check in a little while. On a long, boring telecon at the moment.
So you just stepped out for a refreshing dose of SOC.....Is that it Lane???
Yup. Can surf on one screen while viewing slides about a part of the project other than my own on the other screen. All while listening to an extremely dull conference call. Of course I have to focus when they get to my slides.
GOOD SHOW.......
Nolan, that's what I got until I tried again changing the dates. Then it worked fine. Lane, "shoulder dates"??? Sounds like some techno-speak talk to me.
Hoss, what did you change the dates to?
Attachments
I changed the arrival date to 09/09 instead of 09/08. Then the right numbers popped up. I don't know about any steenking shoulder dates.
I'll call and see WTF
Of course, it's all about the money! Maybe they gave Lane too good of deal!

Lane,
Are you making the Sat nite reservations @ the Italian place ?
Hope we can get the rowdy room with the padded walls.

Go ahead and set it up if you want. If not, I'll do it in a few days. We definitely want the rowdy room up front.
I'll be adding a dinner reservation /menu selection form for the German Restaurant. Don't forget that this is necessary due to prep time of the true dishes. I'll hand-carry hem to Karl so that there are no mistakes. There is one dish that requires 6 hours to make, but I did not add that one to the menu. The reason being that we must be on time and there is also an up charge. Sauerbraten marinates for 10 days. This is the one below and Karl was very German about it!
Schweinshaxn (Knuckle of Pork)
26.99 All Day
A specialty of the Fairytale King Ludwig ll. You must reserve this item 24 hours in advance, since it takes about 6 hours to bake it. Served with M

Aaron: My order for the Bavarian Dinner is this:
If the appetizer is big enough to share then we'll have one.
For Jan: (Please ask to have the sauce on the side)

Gents,
As soon as the knee recuperates a little more, I'll visit Karl at the Bavarian so I can get up close and personal with the offerings. Also, check out the Parkway and return routing. Do we want to lunch at the Pisgah Inn? An approximate rum of 20 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Panoramic views at around 6000 feet.
Here is the lunch menu. There is also a pdf menu.

Return Route:
Pisgah Inn to the Wagon Road Gap around Cold Mountain via 276, to 110 to Canton and return via Highway 74 to Asheville Another choice: Pisgah Inn back track to Elk Pasture Gap, take 151 to Canton return via Highway 74. The second route is the shorter one. The return route roads off the Parkway could be very interesting!

Sounds good Aaron, even it they don't have any pickled ramps or possum on the menu.

Sweet! Now I have to finalize with the Biltmore folks tomorrow, and we're pretty much set up. Thanks for the help, Tom and Aaron!
Knee re-do was a success! Scar tissue removed and knee cap was re-aligned by lateral release. The mountains have cooled off, new seat belts installed, fire extinguisher in place and new coco mat pattern sent to Natural Auto Parts(mats had to be changed due new pedal installation). Looks like in another week I'll be able to checkout routes and food. Any one want to join me?
Sounds like the only routes needed are for the Saturday cruise, plus any optional suggested routes for those who don't do the Biltmore or BMW plan. Wish I could join you for the scouting.
Glad to hear about the knee.

Ok Aaron, No clogging, coon hunting, floor scrubbing or laying carpet! Get well!

Ok folks, we are go for launch at the Biltmore. Same $100 up front fee to cover parking help, etc. Same cost for each person to get in. Same 7:45 arrival to get in the gates prior to opening. Same gorgeous weather (I'm hoping).
Looks like all we have to do now is wait just under 3 months.

Lane,
Does the $100 include all conclusive per couple...tour, admittance, etc.?

Lane--I didn't understand your post about costs---I wasn't there last year so "same" doesn't help me. It's $100 a couple to park and tour The Biltmore? What is parking help?
Thanks for all you are doing to pull this event off---looks great.

I am pretty sure Lane means we all just pitch in to cover the $100.00. If we get 10 cars thats $10.00 each. Cheap to get on the grounds early and get the primo parking. You pay your own ticket into the Biltmore. Capiche?
Marty's right. The $100 is to cover the people directing us, and "managing" us that wouldn't normally have to be there. I pay that up front but take contributions. I believe the tour fee per person is $40, but it's early and my memory is fuzzy.
Nolan, that's some bad German. Buestenhalter or BH (Beeha) for short :-)
Gotcha. Thanks---jack
Tom: It must have gone over your head, "Hold them from flopping" is the way it's pronounced. It a joke!
