OK, got a couple of "interesting" events for Y'all.

The first is an episode of "My Big Redneck Wedding" that was taped here on Lady's Island back last fall. They asked around for a "bunch of old cars" so the guys in the Beaufort Classic Car and Truck Club (BCCaTC) stepped up with their rides (lots of trucks, including some ratty-looking early '50's jobs). They were told that they wouldn't be paid for their cars showing up, but there was lots of free beer. The whole club volunteered. Peter and I were told that they didn't want "any sports cars - they don't look Redneck enough", so you won't see me in there, but Peter is the guy with the snow-white hair.

So here it is folks:

On the Saltus Grill: It is RIGHT on Beaufort's waterfront on the park downtown and also on the Intra-coastal Waterway. Very pretty spot, and I've heard that the food is quite good.

Update on the St. Helena Redneck Wedding:

From the Beaufort Gazette newspaper out today:

http://www.islandpacket.com/1492/story/823840.html

BTW: The driver/donator of the 37 Chevy pickup for the groom is a local Orthepedic Surgeon, Dr. Ralph Salzer (he's got a bunch of Hudsons, too), the driver/donator of the Bride's 67 Impala convertible is Lowell Rohrer, who ran Manufacturing Engineering for a Chevy Assembly plant for 35 years "up No'th", and the driver/donator of the bridesmaid's car is Randall Lafferty who taught high school French and Latin in Philadelphia for years - all displaced Yankees except for Ralph, who's a tried-and-true Redneck Doctor from Georgia. I've heard that fellow Speedstah Guy, Peter McEwan had his 53 Ford Pickup in there, but it wasn't deemed "pretty enough" to be the grooms chariot (it's a work in progress).

I think that the happy couple riding off into the sunset on a local shrimp boat (think Forrest Gump, here) is SO Beaufort and so very cool......
