I've got some paint drying in the geerage, uno momento for update on how fast. I don't have the torque bar installed so I'm slipping the clutch and shifting rather contritely (sp?) Anywho, good gear choice, a little adjustment required for me as I'm used to the long ones from before... crisp, crisp, crisp. Caught myself hitting 6000 RPM twice screwin' around town...jumps to 60 MPH in a heartbeat. Stuck and missed third to fourth gear twice, but I'll get it right sooner rather than later!

Out on 780 I was tryin' to figure out what the guy in front of me was doin', first it looked as if he was gettin' out of the fast lane, then he'd bob back in, so I chose to go around him on his right, third gear on a hill about 1/2 mile mark to Rick's offramp (Glen Cove Rd), no downshift, scooted right past 100MPH and and wasn't even revving hard. Oh yeah! Thank you Jake!

Reminded about the importance of brakes on the offramp.
I'll slower down some in the morning. What a trip.Oh, and the Tangerine exhaust system ended up perfect. There was a little alignment issue with the stubbies and flanges, but we tweaked that in place and when the bracket went in place, everything else slid into place, I thought I needed to tack weld the two primary connecting pieces of the Phase9 and the Quiet Can, but when the muffler guy looked at it he said, no leakes, great bracket, no sense in spoiling the ceramic coating. Cool.

Oh yeah, and it sounds hecka powerfull throaty and I'm seriously worth the dough, dude! Thank you Chris!
Paul, I'm soooo glad you got it in for the show... Tomorrow on the way down will be quite a trip for sure, just take it easy and vary the rpm at cruise while its getting used to its new environment... Also you need to ensure its not running lean. I made the calculated jet change to your new altitude, but when you go toward Knotts you are heading to sea level and it will run a tad leaner. Just beware.

Give that damn thing hell, and show it off to as many people as you can. Keep my gift to you in your pocket in case someone tries to invade ya while you are down in SOCAL..

Now I wanna know what Rick thinks!

I told ya so.....

Drive it to Carlisle, a certain person needs a close encounter of the 4th kind!

BTW< I love providing engines for guys that drive hard, nothing is better!
Paul,

Congrats on the SPEED GRINS!

Since I will be tracing your path 24hrs later, I'll try and count all of the rice burners and beemer kiddies that you've blown off the road on the way!!

Keep that rig in one piece until I can get a ride in it!

How close does that exhaust sound to the vintage racers we watched at Thunderhill??

Brian.
OH MY GAWD IZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ RIGHT! (Was I yelling? Sorry Theron but I'm still eXXXcited).
Perfect hardcore motor/tranny/exhaust match for the perfect hardcore guy! My new best friend: Sir Medicine Man. Absolutely a work of art Jake! & now a few pictures are worth a thousand wordzzzzzzzzzz.....~R

PS: Be safe Pauly! I have a cold one waitin' for you on deck when you get back. GAWD SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!
Jake,
I think GB's girfriend would be dating Paul if she rode in this Monster T4 RabySpecial (O: I always tell Paul he shouldn't play with sharp objects & now for the first time... I think he's going to hurt himself with a T4.
I think the DTM looks incredibly clean but mostly exclusive in style, setting itself apart from the typical T1 tin, the 911 shroud & the Bernie Bergman Propeller (O: Once again, a work of T4 art.
Now for the intangible..... the smile on MM's face: priceless!~R
The smile is all that counts.... and the look of amazement when he opens the decklid, or they crawl underneath to see the "Large intestine" look of the Tangerine Superheader!

At shows guys always say "how did you do that- They think its like a challenge or something!

Glad you liked it, hope Paul don't grenade my gearbox without his kafer cup brace in place.
""Large Intestine" look", LOL.

Paul I'm glad it fits, and you like it.
I've been thinking about your center exit preference.
If you get me a pic of how the mufflers fit relative to the rear apron I will try to add that feature for you.
I was able to do it easily on the Spyder system I did last month, but the layout was much different.
:-)

Chris
Alan,
Thanks buddy...

Seems that Paul had a slight issue with the car on the way down to Knotts. He and I talked a few minutes ago and he said that after an hour or so one of his 48 IDA carbs would start to seize and hang up... It damaged the throttle cable. Luckily Henry from Intermeccanica was in the caravan and patched it up.

when he and I talked they were on the way to JPS to see if they could get the issue resolved with some tools and lube.

Seems the new IDAS are like everything else these days, and need modification... Paul's shakedown cruise isn't an easy one, I wish he would have had atleat a couple weeks run time on it before such a trip! Oh well, can't be afraid of it!

He sounded like he is having a great time on the way down and when I asked him if it was still fast he just replied "wait till you see the post I'm gonna make" sounds like he spanked some ass for sure sometime today!

If his carb repair is successful He'll just be a little behind schedule, but definately getting there at warp speed!
Guys,
This is the height ofmy busiest season..... One day away from the shop takes 3 to make up.

I have some serious duty stuff in the works right now development wise, AND I cannot afford to leave my Dad for more than a few hours in his condition..

I really appreciate all your invites and especially Alan offering to pick up the dinner tab... I'd love to come, but!

Heck, I'm missing Rennfest this weekend too, things don't get done unless you stick with it!
Just got off the phone with Paul....

They were able to repair ihis carb issue and make the rest of the trek to Knotts last night... Paul says that his temps are running the same or less with this engine, than the old 1776, and its 900ccs larger! That made me feel great!

It seems that Mr. Jim Ward got to experience the feel of the MassIVe Type IV this morning, guess we'll get his opinions after the show. Those guys are having a blast and I'm stuck here! DAMN IT!

Jake,

It was very appropriate that we are very close to disneyland because Paul's car is one Helluvan 'E' ticket ride...

In and out of traffic, nimble power to spare.. and accelleration that leaves you breathless..that beast just doesn't stop PULLING!!

AND...when pauls foot wasn't in it, it seemed quite behaved in the lower revved streetability zone..

Once again, nice job!

Brian.
Back from LA, pulled in 2:45 this A.M. Damn SUVs mixing it up on I-5 kept Dale and I in traffic a bit longer than we anticpated...
Engine is well and I am sorting things out this week...had a few throttle issues, but nothing serious. I followed the manufacturers recommendations and put the pedal to the metal...

ooooooOOOOOOO-Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I guess they gave the Buena Park gendarms the weekend off and Beach Blvd was wide (four lanes, I think?) open for a little, oh, this and that!

Thanks Jake, Thanks Chris and thanks especially to Ted and Sean at German Car Clinic for jamming a month's worth of work into a four day window.

Thanks John Steele for getting me back on the road again and a big bucket of Molson to Henry, King of the North, for making a few critical adjustments that really made a BIG difference in the throttle mayhem!

Time for a nap!

YIKES! I forgot a big hug and a Molson for Rick Davis who not only successfully jerry-rigged my linkage back together but sheparded (?) both Bruce and I at risk to his life and limb along the roadside raceway known as 'the Grapevine', graveyard to Bruce's engine...
Then he scooped up excess cargo a beleagured traveler and led the last of our caravan across the endless desert of overextended, over-chromed SUVs to our tent and oasis in Buena Park...Dude, you rock, eh!
Now these are the posts that everyone enjoys. Jake don't feel bad, I was stuck in Vegas all month trying to get the darn LV monorail up and running. That Type 4 sure looks great in that engine bay! Man talk about envy....I am really considering getting that 912 I emailed you about, did you get my email? Looks like the 2270-cc "C" "group buy" is a done deal!
