****UPDATE****

I did my first ever valve adjustment today after watching several videos, thanks Chris Vallone at www.classicbugs.com for posting instructional videos I can understand, reading my manual, and asking questions at CB Performance yesterday.  It went really well after finally figuring out where on my distributor was the number one cylinder.  After that it was easy. LOL What can I say, I know it's old hat for some but I'm a newbie at this stuff. Several of the valves were definitely tight and the others were right on.  Loosened up the tight ones, started it up, and it was purring pretty.

Drained the oil and installed the 1.5 quart thin-line sump from CB Performance and added the Jaycee sump cover with magnetized drain plug. Very cool looking and functional.  Four quarts of Brad Penn 40 wt for the Central Valley heat and now I'm taking her out for a spin.

Thanks for all the help.

OK, thanks, Lane.  All the bacon is in Pat's corner!.  Things always, look different from the outside looking in, and visa versa.

I can't imagine buying a new motor, retired budget,  But if I did, can't  imagine anything other than a Pat Down's build!  Based upon the info posted here.

I know there are many fine builders out there. But Farmersville is a short, eh, comfortable drive south on  5.
