So, it is spring and that is when I do the oil changes on the 'toys'. The Speedster really needs a oil change so it first on the list, oil is black, etc. . So I decided to go the full route, new oil screen filter, make sure the cooler is drained, new crush washers etc. ....

Anyway, is it recommended to apply some hi-temp silicone gasket sealant between the block and the gaskets, between the oil filter screen and the cover plate?

Every V-8 I've done or had built has always had the pan gasket siliconed with hi-temp gasket sealant between the block and the gasket and between the pan and the gasket to help prevent leaks from the pan...flat-4's are new to me.

No sealant needed.  Just use the paper gasket supplied with an oil change kit.

Lane, you're going to have to up your game! But, I think you can still pull it off.

I was getting a small oil drip on the side of the sump plate, so in my infinite wisdom(lol) I decided to remove it and ordered a new gasket set, crush washers and an oil filter screen. The new screen has smaller perforations in the screen than the old one. The old one looks it could pass a pebble thru it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Lane, y'all can keep your 'monkey poop' sounds like you might need it before me...LOL
