I got curious about what the oil is doing when it's circulating thru the oil coolers. Finding and installing oil temp senders in places where they will have direct contact with the oil is limited but with this new modification i will be able to find out what the oil cooler on the engine is doing. This one's a little more work to install though and I will have to drill a small hole in the fan shroud to accommodate the wire connection. With these two senders installed I will now have four of them hooked to the rotary switch i use for my four CHT senders. I should be able to read the oil temps. in the sump, coming out of the external oil cooler before it goes to the engine and the internal oil cooler and after it leaves the internal oil cooler back in to the engine lube system.   Photos below......... Information is power.......Bruce

Yell "FLUX CAPACITOR, BITCHES! Hey, what year is it right now?"

Gotta say, I really like the info/insight you're providing for us here.  Imagine what we'd accomplish if we had access to a wind tunnel...!!  We could get underneath and SEE where air flows (and doesn't flow), test airflow/cooling behind other vehicles vs. clean air....etc.

I'm almost considering a 3D printer to make a scaled model of [our] cars and putting it in front of a fan..........

A wind tunnel would be so cool!! I wonder if you COULD build a scale model wind tunnel ? You know...with a fan in the end of some 24" HVAC duct and some directional/stabilization vanes to control/direct the air flow ? Also a very accurate food scale to measure the down force of the wind over the body ? Mirrors on the floor to watch the smoke flow underneath ? And a bunch of GoPRO cameras ?

Come to think of it, I would like to get an air speed meter. One that measures air speed and CFM. I think A/C guys use them but I don't know what speed and volume they're rated for. Anyone have any sources?.  I really like my new temp monitor instrument. Accurate too. It's from DATAQ Instruments in Ohio, Model # EL-WiFi-tp.......Bruce

....and if they yell back, "That sure doesn't look like a Flux Capacitor!" Marty Bruce can yell back, "It's for an air cooled engine!"

HAHA or "Wait'll "Back to the Future IV" releases in 2 years, you'll see the new Flux Capacitor...!  Oh, and bet on the Maple Leafs for the Cup. Thank me later."

And Bruce......I think I've planted a seed

Leo DiCaprio might call this "Inception"...!

Huge big ones!!!

Back to the original topic- I've seen the oil filter mount drilled and tapped for a temperature sensor as well.

Years ago, some bicyclists on a very low budget wanted some wind tunnel time but couildn't afford it.

They improvised.

Living in Colorado, they bought an old school bus, cut off the windshield and front cowl, cut off the rear end of the bus, set up a bike (with rider) stationary in the middle and put a person back there with smoke trails and cameras.  Once that was all set up, they simply drove the bus along a highway at whatever speed they wanted to measure.

You could set up whatever measuring devices you wanted and they would be right in front of you because the bike (or speedster) doesn't move, the entire tunnel does.

Food for thought.........Kinda like "Cheap Eats", the Alton Brown way.....
