A buddy bent this for me yesterday. I'm at VPA installing it using 8mm rivet-nuts.

Is that in the fender well? What cooler are you putting in, a Setrab? .
You've only got a couple weeks left Will if you're taking the Speedster to SLO.

Seems like such a dirty and vulnerable place...
Ha ha Robert, the speedster's in SLO, that's where VPA is, out Broad Street
Bill, I mounted mine there 58,000 miles ago. Most of those miles were over rural roads - a lot of them with gravel. Never had a puncture...knock on plastic.
Not the greatest place for it because if the tire decides to come apart goodbye cooler, oil and possibly the entire motor. But if it has to reside there, shape a cage to cover it out of 1/4" square hole hardware cloth to help keep kicked up debris away.
Will: Maybe not the best place for protection from tire-borne elements, but probably the best place on the rear of the speedster body for one. Like Terry, I've had mine in the same place as you for almost as many miles with nary a problem. OTOH, I agree with Alan and suggest adding some protective screen over it - just in case.
I've had mine there for 10 years, and a lot of miles. Not one single problem, ever.
That's where IM puts the oil coolers on their type 1 powered cars.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing those bracket dimensions, Will.
Jim, those dimensions are for the Setrab 625 cooler, mine has a fan-pack but the 625 without a fan is the same size.
Damn! Everybody has a cleaner workbench than I do.
Very nice job, Will.
Looks like a "Factory Install".
Hey, at least you have room for a workbench.
Lookin' good, Will.
