Yes, I have to say it is... and not in just one spot either. But the odd thing (to me that is) it leaks as oil is added. I don't know where the leak originates, but having just added two quarts there was a new puddle of oil on the ground to the right of the fill tube. I am sure this is not an uncommon aspect of a 2.0 914 Porsche engine, but I did not have some else on hand to pour the oil in, while I inspected where it was coming from... I was pouring steadily, so I know that it is not from an over pour or unsteady, messy pour. Any suggestion???

Baffled!

Do you have a stock oil filler on the engine?

The stock oil filler has a boot where the oil dipstick passes into the case, called the "Dipstick boot"....

These are the source of most leaks in that general vicinity. The boots generally tear from old age.
I sell the new boots at www.type4store.com

Simon,
Your engine won't leak one of the things I never stop developing is sealant technology and preparation to help in sealing things off dry- I HATE OIL LEAKS.

If an engine has one drop under it after the dyno runs it doesn't leave my shop.
I think that it is a stock filter, but the filter sits to the left of the oil intake tube and the drip is coming from the right of it. The alt pulley is in the way so that is why I can't see exactly where the leak is coming from. I did not have time to do anything with the car last night, I am hoping to put some discovery time in this weekend though.
