They are a little more expensive because I don't believe you can mount the fittings yourself; they have to be swedged on, so you have to know lengths before hand. Industrial supply houses should be able to do them, or know who does locally. If that doesn't work, Gene Berg Enterprises in Orange, CA http://www.geneberg.com/cat.php?name=PTFETubing&cPath=2753 can do them. Sorry guys, couldn't get the links to work properly; go to product categories, click on "oiling system". For standard lengths with fittings click on "PTFE tubing" and for custom lengths click on "Custom AN-8 Gas Lines". AN-8 is the minimum recommended for oil lines.
ALB,
Actually even the teflon breaks down, just not as quickly. For example: The air ride systems everyone is putting into cars these days, the teflon lines used have to be replaced every five years like in big rigs. I think the DOT aproved ones for brake lines last longer but I do not remember.
As for assembling "AN" fittings onto steel braided lines, the alum ones simply bolt together. I'll look around for a link on the how to or you guys can look it up on you tube yourselfs.
