My wife and I are back on the market for another one. We had a Vintage Speedster speedster replica; but am I imagining it as it appears the CMC speedster replica looks even closer to the original in terms of authenticity relative to its scale, shape and details. Am I correct in this assumption?
Thanks!

I would have to say you would be wrong on that assumtion... Alot of CMC cars were owner built and they vary as to quality of construction. The guages were a little funky and not placed like the original. Then there is that "Hibachi" grill.. The one thing that stands out to me on a "Vintage" is the way the dash vinyl stops short on each side by the windsheild posts. Alot of CMC had an extra padded piece that looked more original. My CMC seems to have a little thicker fiberglas than the "Vintage"
The CMC Speedster bucket seats are definitely more authentic! Not sure if that's good or bad - if you are already amply padded - it's bad. Interior of Vintage is more production line looking than the stock CMC DIY too. Vintage also has faux torsion bar inspection plates (easily replicated with hole saw bit). Vintage seems to prefer older swing axle rears too - so more authentic there (later IRS being more modern). CMCs originally gel coat finish too -- vs painted.
