I decided to leave the seats in Butch alone for now. Two reasons; first it is a long drive to Paso and I don't want to chance an unknown with my tender 'sensibilities'. Second, Butch's seats look (better than)OK and as he is for sale, let the next owner decide whether it is an issue...

In preparing to show Butch to a prospect I was going though his pedigree and he was built in 1998 and delivered in 1999, so he spent his first two years in a garage mostly as it was 2001 when I got him with 2,700 KM on the clock.

It is now 45,000KM later and many upgrades and changes later. Still for sale. Still a unique and expensive replica equipped as it sits. I did price out a new 125 HP Type1 installed for one tire-kicker and with that in place Butch can be purchased for $24K-25K. So that aligns with a new base-model (Vintage or JPS) replica without coolers, fans, oilers, gauges, over-sized gas tank, fire system, etc, etc, etc.

NO, yuck! Pa-tooey!
No stinkin' 100HP engine in Butch as long as I'm still drivin'

I believed the clown I was talking with...He thought, "too much engine."
I saw another guy's wife be a good sport for her husband and try her hand at driving Butch... She couldn't handle the clutch (for real or by design? Women are clever that way you know)

I was looking at the possibilities and talked to the shop that built my old Type1, did the math and said, OK buy my car with a little motor for this much money and I'll deal with an extra engine in my geerage a while.
