This supremely-red 1946 Cessna 120 was already two years old when Ferdinand Porsche and his boy Ferry hammered out his first aluminum-bodied Typ 356 in a Gmund, Austria garage. I couldn't resist sweet-talking my way onto the Falcon Field tarmac in Mesa yesterday to pair up these old friends...

Excellent!
Wow! A heckuva granddad and quite a great-uncle, @VitMan (Jared)! Love that pic!
Wow, Cory! I think all of those pics are 'Calendar' pics!
Aw, thanks, @MusbJim...
I have a friend who loves photography, and he is itching to get his lens on this car ... I think he might turn in a gem or two!
I'll have to check the rules on calendar submissions… I always love paging through that thing!
Cory, very cool, thanks for sharing.

Pretty cool!!!
Jared...Great nostalgia!
It has the basic low wing shape and size of an open cockpit Ryan surplus USAAF trainer for WW2 aviation cadets tied down next to my Dad's Stinson at the Downey airfield in California....Pure, unadulterated romance. (BTW, your grandfather's engine is a 'radial' not a 'rotary' with its fixed propeller whirling around -rotating- with the cylinders)
Cory, I would love to see one of these PICs in the annual Speedster calendar??
Thanks, @Michael B (aka bluespeedster SoCal)... I mentioned to @MusbJim above that, when the weather breaks here in Arizona (and we begin our beautiful, 7-month stretch as the "inland San Diego"), a photographer friend wants to get this silver girl into some gorgeous settings -- we'll see how it turns out!
I know what you mean Cory, I had spend 24 years in Tucson and the Porsche club was very active with the Phoenix folks. I miss some of those beautiful open winding roads that went for miles. I'll be out in Prescott area looking at homes in late October. This has been an on going thing for the last 2 years. Take care, Michael
Aww... Prescott. Maybe the most perfect spot in AZ! @Michael B (aka bluespeedster SoCal)
Looking forward to crossing paths with you!
Very pretty car!
