Older 912/911 hand brake conversion

Has anyone replaced their VW hand brake for an older 912/911? My VW hand brake is huge and ugly. The 912 is designed so that the cable connections attach on the underside of the handle. See pic of my VW handle with 8mm bolts!

Your's shouldn't have to pull up but 3 or 4 clicks. You need to shorten your cables 3" or so. Yeah it still screams replica. The under dash umbrella hand brake is the authentic solution.
