On our way to Morro Bay !!!

Whoo, Hooo! The time is finally here. We have our Speedster loaded up, the cooler filled, the house mortgaged for gas money and we are on our way to California. We are leaving in the morning early so we can cross the snowy passes about noon when things are easiest. Our plan is to be in Morror Bay by Thursday AM. If anybody needs to contact me for any reason I will be online each evening.

Here is another copy of the schedule. Coordinate with us at the hotel and Sharon will have your badge. Polish those cars, fill the gas tanks, this is going to be the best gathering we have ever had !

California Gathering Schedule
FRIDAY
Arrive and check-in
1:00 pm - 2 hour winery tour
Leader = Blake & Jen Leong
3:30 pm - relax at hotel; shop down town
6:30 pm - meet at Great American Fish Company (order and pay individually)
SATURDAY
9:00 to 9:30 - show cars at staging point (by Power Plant) & watch kite demonstrations
10:00 to 11:00 drive cars in town Parade (decorations will be provided for your car) regroup at Power Plant parking lot.
12:30 pm - drive to San Luis Obispo to see Porsche 356 show
3:00 - winery and/or backroad tours
Leaders = Terry Nuckels and Eddie Janis
5:00 pm - relax at hotel; socialize at pubs
6:30 pm - 3 meat BBQ buffet dinner at Embarcadero Grill (upstairs) - ($25.79 includes salad, dessert and gratuity - cash bar) plus member

Weather forecast for this weekend calls for scattered clouds with temps in the 70's! Perfect for top-down Speedster cruising - Yahooooooo!!

I will be shooting pics/video of the event this weekend. My son, Colin, will help me produce a video/DVD of Morro Bay SOC 2008 to post on YouTube with copies for the asking.

Have a safe trip on the way to Morro Bay, Dusty. We're looking forward to seeing you, Sharon and all our SOC friends!

Once you leave St. George, maybe you & Sharon could stop off at the Valley-of-Fire Fireworks Store (American Indian Reservation) just before you reach Las Vegas.

About $500 bucks could get you enough High Explosive Fireworks for an awesome thermonuclear display to rival July 4th in Washington D.C.!! I don't think the Morro Bay Fire Dept would mind!

I'm pretty sure we could pass the hat and collect enough bail-money for you!

Safe trip, Dusty (wow....sounds like "Dusty and Lefty" from "A Prarie Home Companion," heading out on the range!!)

Will: Like me, Dusty and the Lovely Miss Sharon take a slightly more comfortable mode of transport when heading to Speedie events.

Look for the same Escalade, but with (I think) an Ivory-ish Speedie on the back...Two people with BIG grins sitting in the Escalade....all that stuff.

We may be called whusses, but at least we don't feel like deaf road kill when we get there after a couple of days on the road.....

Go ahead and be green. We are starting the party now but we will be there with you in three weeks to continue the party.

Everyone coming to Morro Bay.......... WE ARE HERE! Arrived late this afternoon; unloaded the Speedy and went out for a great fish dinner. Now relaxing with a glass of wine and getting ready for tomorrow. I will meet with the CofC and the parade people in the morning and check in on the restaurants that are hosting our group each evening and breakfast. After that I am relying on all of you to have a good time. We are going shopping tomorrow afternoon.

Look for the big red truck with the horse on the side ... that's our rig and will be where you get your SOC badge (from LMS) and we gather to listen to stories and get directions to the meeting point.

Hurry up and get here !!! We want to see all of you again !!

Gerd - sorry, no battery charger and I don't have enough hair to run a comb thru to get static buildup to recharge your battery. Bring a comb and we'll hold MUSBJIM down.

Vince - cars will be in the parking lot at the restaurant Friday evening and Saturday morning before and after the parade. Saturday evening we will be in the center of town during our main dinner and the same on Sunday. Lots of public viewing time and in a number of places for all to see who might not know where to look for us.

All --- the President of the CofC has been interviewed TWICE on the radio about our group and once in a newspaper article. He is really spreading the word. Sharon and I toured the town and visited with many business owners today and they are all enthusiastic and looking forward to seeing us. We also toured other hotel facilities to have options to present to the group for next year ... if you want to do it again here and if you want to change locations. Let's all talk about it (over a few beers and some wine) when you get in.
