there are a lot of KG hack jobs out there. jsut search on thesamaba's ghia forum.

My first impressions is as statesd above. A nice blend of a 356 and Ghia. To be honest - i am not fussy about the rear vents, but the transition of the two cars on the front is very nice.

Be for-warned, you will have Ghia purists saying not so nice things behind your back if thesy see this.

Hats off to you and your creativity and craftsmanship.
I found it crashed(hit in the front). After I got it home I found that the PO had brazed all new panels over the old rusted stuff( and a half inch of Bondo over that). It wasnt worth saving. I only paid $200. for it. I could have sold the rear window for that much.

I decided to try some ideas I always had. This car has gone thru some design changes over the years( the side scoops are from another idea). I was going to make it more modern (ie. boxster like) but I like the retro look better. 20 + yrs ago I wanted to put a 356 front on a Ghia and I never got around to it(rusted 356s were a dime a dozen in those days).

Any thoughts on color? A sky blue or a pale green might be cool.

Thanks for your replies.

Bryan
You've nailed it, bro. Very nice.
Sikkens makes a really nice, mild metal flake or matallic (take your pick) blue. Match the color temperature of the blue with green, go green from the filler-cap back and blue from the filler-cap forward. Divide the two with a checkerboard of four-inch blue and green squares like the old biplanes of WWI, and you'll have all kinds of looks.
The metallic paint will highlight those gorgeous curves.
I just looked at the car and I think my color choices are going to be limited. My top is black, it came with decent grey german squareweave carpet and I bought some grayish speedster seats from A. Merklin.

If this wasn't a lowbudget project, I'm digging the ivory/lt blue or the ivory/red.
I could get a ivory vinyl top for about $120 but the install would be more than I want to pay.

Thanks for the pics Cory
Follow Cory's silhouette for the color breaks, and do it up in ivory and blue/gray using this car as a color guide:

Since it has a black convert. top and a gray interior, it ought to provide you with a fairly decent preview of what your ride will look like . . .

Maybe?
The more I look at my car the more I think I dont have the angle of the headlights correct. Some angles make the front seem too bulbous.

Does anyone have a copy of a line drawing for a 356A with the dimensions. I have seen a copy of a "B" and "C" but not a "A".
If not, can someone measure their car?

I want to check to see what degree of tilt the headlights should have.

Thanks in advance.
