We have had a reservation open up for the upcoming Vermont Fall Foliage Tour.
Tour details are below, so If you are interested in a leisurely 3-day trip through some of the most beautiful Autumn colors on the planet, PM me and I’ll provide you with contact info to make reservations.
As of June 2023, this is the current group for my Foliage Tour (please forgive my forgetfulness on spouse names):
Gordon and Kathy Nichols
Al and Heidi Gallo
MusbJim and Ginny
Stan and Jeannie Galat
Ed Erickson and his wife
Bob and Mary Carley (joining us in Bennington?)
Marty and Sandy G.
All will be flying/driving to Bradley Int. Airport, Windsor Locks, CT - To arrive Oct. 9 and depart Oct 13, renting cars at the airport - I don't expect you to bring your heat-challenged Speedster/MG/Roadster but, of course, you are welcome to.
I am working on a hotel close to the airport that won't break the bank (under $200 per night) and may settle on the Hampton Inn, Windsor Locks but may move the group to some place a bit farther from the airport noise - More on that later, and we still have time.
We're staying in Vermont at the Kitzhoff Inn in the village of West Dover. The Owner's are Simon and Alison Ferris and they're terrific car people. We can cancel without penalty up to two weeks before our date, so if you change your mind I can backfill with someone else, but you'll miss out on a great tour.
I have a block of 8 rooms reserved. One room has opened up which we’re currently holding.
The Speedster Owners rate is $351 total, for arrival Oct. 10 and departure Oct. 12, double occupancy.
Breakfast two days is included and Dinner Oct. 11. All rooms have Queen beds and are very nicely appointed. This is a very good deal, as foliage season rooms usually start above $300/night in the valley.
We will be traveling to a number of scenic and historic towns along our routes, and Simon is providing a "Covered Bridge Tour" of the area that can be downloaded to our phones and followed on the second day. We will certainly drive part of scenic RT 100. Kathy and I will be staying there earlier in the season to check out his tour and see about other places to sightsee as a group.
This will be a foliage tour and not a "driving" tour. The pace will be speed limits with around 4 hours of seat time per day, the rest of the time sight-seeing at the most beautiful time of the Vermont year. We should visit Bennington, Manchester, Woodstock (prettiest small town in Vermont), Montpelier (state Capitol), White River Junction, Jamaica (great chocolates), Grafton (Great Cheeses), Newfane (most picturesque village in Vermont), Brattleboro and Windsor and maybe a few more along the way, to include interesting cafes, Vermont Country Stores and so on and it should be a spectacular time of the year. Some of the group have asked about other things to do to stretch their vacation into a week, so we’re working on other points of interest within a reasonable distance - The Red Sox will have blown their season by then, but Worcester’s AA “Woo-Sox” might still be in contention….We’ll see.
Private Message me if you are interested and I will give you reservation details.
