Nice looking car but it is a little pricey.
HotRod;
Many of the upgrades, are true upgrades. The wheels alone, are $3K. The Vintage Speed upgrades are highly thought of here.
The car just oozes classic 356. Not flashy, reserved. (mines, Guards Red)
I'd call Kirk Duncan, and get his take on this car. (Vintage Speedsters, Hawaiian Gardens, CA.)
It is a short, San Jose International flight to Costa Mesa. $300 well spent. There are many members here, who might be willing to , check this car out for you.
Work the deal, this is a re-list.
Good luck.

Looks like a very nice car. I agree with Art, it was built by VS for a re-seller who sold the car so it automatically went for more than if it were bought from Kirk at VS. The upgrades really are upgrades. The Techno wheels are heck-expensive but worth it; super lightweight. The exhaust upgrade is another $1,000 minimum upgrade, Vintage Speed shifter is also a great upgrade. Everything else is a standard VS built car.
Used, well cared for cars are going for more money these days but if you get the right one you won't HAVE to do anything to it, not that you might not do something anyway.

My thoughts also Art. I got started in the upholstery business 40 years ago doing 356's. My thoughts were to get a little carried away and do a very original style interior, german square weave, real speedster seats and so-on. Also I would love to build a new top for these cars, no offense to anyone but most tops look terrible.
Hotrodstitcher- Don't go too crazy- most people will think it's cool just the way it is, while you'll never impress the guys that really know the difference. It doesn't have a Porsche vin #, and that's all that matters for a lot of Porschephiles.

Very nice upholstery Sid (if this is Sid). German Square Weave is definitely the bomb. That is a beautiful upgrade in my humble opinion. We have a very well known shop here in Fresno that does it, but it isn't cheap, and they're booked out a year in advance. Santa Clara's not too far.
I totally missed the wheels...
Beautiful Vintage Speedster. True, the VIN is not a Porsche VVIN but will ease registration in every state with never a hassle. The stance is perfect and if the pictures are truly reflective of the paint, it looks show quality.
The solid paint colors used by VS are acrylic enamel ---no base coat/clear coat that is impossible to touch up. Acrylic enamel allows perfect correction of even large chips and road rash---a positive to me as I have had a LOT of chips to fix but they are invisible.
I'd say $24-27k on this car myself. A fine Speedster IMHO. You asked for an opinion and that's all this is.

I get ya ALB, I would be doing to for me, not trying to impress anyone. I have a real Porsche vin on a 1957A outlaw coupe. I just think this car could be made to look way cool with the right touches...Sid
Sid, unrelated to your inquiry about the car - which is very nice - a new top assembly for speedsters would be an item that many of us would be interested in. Only IMs and Becks (and Paul aka "Mango Smoothie") have a true scissor top frame. The rest of us suffer with the stupid two ribbed emergency awning. Looking forward to seeing what you develop.

Thanks Jack, thats what I was asking for. I don't think he'll go that low...

Thanks Terry, we developed a top for 1932 Ford Roadster about 18 years ago. I have been looking at the replica speedster top for a long time, just don't know if there is a big enough market. If I get one I'm sure I'll build at least one..

You'll never know unless you ask.
For those who don't know, Sid's the real deal. His shop is famous for lots of high-end cars and owners. The cool part is that he doesn't blow his own horn. With fans like me around he doesn't need to.

Sid, if you do a top for these with a folding frame I would be very interested in buying one. My top fits decently but I hate having to flop the header on top of the folded top.
x2 or 3 on the top.
I believe Mango used the guy in Mexico (Rafeal I think) to purchase his top. He had to completely re-due it to make it look and function right.
Sid, if you build the top, we will buy...

I'd buy one. I'll pay a deposit upfront.
Let me know,
Ted
That's one of the prettiest speedsters I've ever seen. Never thought Ivory would work with a red interior. Very nice upgrades. My first spyder was ivory with a black interior. Miss that car.
