My mechanic desire me to purchase and install a Optima Red Top Battery. I have a GENERATOR not an altenator. 

I have a 1835cc completely rebuild motor

Will this work for me?????????????

OR...  You could get one of these (http://shop.odysseybattery.com/p/er20mj?pp=12).  It is small and light enough to carry in one hand, and can be mounted in any orientation except inverted.  It releass no fumes, so it can be installed in the passenger compartment.  I bought the metal jacketed one shown so I could mount in in the engine compartment.  It has been there for 3-4 years and worked well.  It isn't cheap, but it's a great solution.

 

I installed an Optima (yellow) in my Acura and it only lasted one year.

I dont know anything about batteries...but I personally would want one that a...simply works, and b...one that provides some good weight up front in my car to help in handling any way it can...  I dont know what the battery is in my new VS, but it works and I am sure it was probably one of the cheapest cost they could get.  i bet it weighs a lot too!

i'm running a tiny sealed battery and have been for years.  every winter, i just unplug it and put it on battery trickle charger/maintainer.  works great.
