Do any of you know this car? I found it on Flikr and fell in love with the color. I was going to have Kirk build us an ivory car but I think I want this in my garage! Click on the photo to enlarge.

It is pretty. If if turns your crank, go for it! Al
before I built my car I did a search of 356 porsche images... great tool to see what colours look like on that shape. Ray
Al, I totally agree, any color looks good on a 356, it's just that some look better/best!
Kathy had a white/red '58 cabriolet and I had a silver/black '59 coupe. They were both great looking cars and I was going to do a classier ivory/buckskin/tan thing this go-around but when I came across this orange beauty...reason flew out the window!
Thank goodness for the internet, where would we be without it?
I'm just hoping that someone on here recognizes this particular car and it's paint I.D., that would be so helpful.

Ray, that would work for you urbanites but us hillbillys would have a 2 1/2 hour drive to visit one of those kind of dealers, Fords and Chebbies sold around here...
I'm holding out hope that Kirk built it but haven't heard back from him today. He probably took my deposit and is living it up on some beach in Mexico, sipping lime Margaritas and listening to Jimmy Buffett...
Thanks Art! I remember that 914 orange, almost bought one of them. Good call, I'll snoop around and see...

Carlos, it could be...
914's came in Signal Orange and Nepal Orange.
Here's an on-line version of a similar chart:

I seem to remember that, in general, Porsche had some truly awful paint colors and schemes in the 1970's - Like that waving checker flag interior on some cars or the plaid interiors, and their weird choice of "Earth Tones" on the outside.
But then, there was "Signal Red" or "Signal yellow" that could be seen for miles and ALWAYS looked great on whatever wore it.
Wolfgang, I think it's Signal Yellow (911). Headed to the body/paint supply shop to check it out right now, love, love, love that color.
Can you believe how it shines under those showroom lights?
Like a juicy, ripe, Florida orange!
If you would like to keep your car as traditional as possible, Porsche did offer a special color option in orange for the 57 speedster. Color code #5711. I've always felt that the louder, "fruity brite" colors looked great on the wide bodies, while the "calmer" more traditional colors suited the standard body cars. As always, however,
remember that in the end, it only matters that you are happy. Congrats on your pending order. Kirk puts out a lot of bang for your buck.
Total aside: I'm as boring as it gets. Silver/black on everything personal, white work trucks
... but if'n I had a 914, I'd look really hard at Delphi Green. I think it'd look awful on a speedster, and probably even on a 911- but for some reason (to my mind's eye anyhow) it works on a 914.
Resume discussion...
Spent some time in the paint shop looking up Porsche Signal Yellow, no luck with that search.
I did find an orange that looks like it might be the one on this orange speedster, it's called Orbit Orange used by Pontiac in 1973 on a bunch of their cars. It's a base coat so with 15 or 20 layers of clear, my car should look really cool, and weigh about 30 extra pounds...
For what it's worth, MINI currently has a non-metallic color called Volcanic Orange that looks similar, but maybe a little brighter than the old Porsche color. You might at least be able to see it on a car by checking out your local MINI dealer.
Be careful, though. Don't, under any circumstances, let yourself be coaxed into driving a MINI.

"Signal Orange" is a color, Signal Yellow I don't know.
Volcanic Orange, huh?...That certainly has much more verbal umph and clout than "Pumpkin Orange" that I've identified my 912 as having!
Bill, Signal Yellow is a Porsche color used on the 911's in the 70's, see Wolfgang's chart above...
Mitch, I like that color a lot! Thanks!
LeonC's CMC was painted House of Color Aztec Gold - it was a deep orange that really reflected the clouds.. Still owned by another SOCer here.
I've always wondered what a Speedster would look like in a true BRG paint job w/ tan leather interior/tan top/tan tonneau. Not a Porsche green but a Jag or Aston-Martin BRG
Well, here it is. Jaguar BRG, tan interior and top.

in 1974 Porsche/VW had some Limited Edition (LE) 914's - the had ivory bodies with either orange or lime green bumpers & spoiler, Mahle wheels, and side PORSCHE shadow stripes. The ivory with orange is called the Creamsicle. There was also a sharp black body one with yellow accents - the Bumblebee edition.
... and there's some of your "period correct" oddities. Unfortunate.
But plaid seat inserts are making a comeback, so what do I know?
Well, it looks like we're going to roll with a cream speedster. I sent Kirk an e-mail yesterday morning telling him I was thinking of changing color to orange along with the picture at the top of this post...he was in San Diego and our car was painted yesterday.
A little bummed but mostly excited, will post pics when Kirk sends them.
Hmmm. I think I'll get me sum a them thar Porsha stickers...
Hey, a cream colored Speedster will look just great!
A classic color is probably easier to resell down the line too.
Years ago a friend of mine in NJ took his '67 AH 3000 into Gino's Paint and Body to have it painted. He wanted olde English ivory body with black side/door insets. When he went to pick it up a week later - there was "another" AH there but with black body and white inserts! Not once before the paint went on did Gino say "No kabish."
The ivory or cream color works very well on the speedster shape.
The last time I saw Kevin, he was delivering one for overseas shipment. Beautiful standard build, cream color with a 1915 engine.
Ours is a special cream color, a VW bug (re-release) called Harvest Moon Beige, think: Caramel Macchiatto, it will be bitchen!
Hey, Will, keeping up with the build is sometimes a challenge, but beige is a nice colour in any case even is creamsicle had been chosen you might yearn for a colour change also down the road. You know you may be allowed one wife, but with many colours.
Another useful link w/ color codes and sample car pictures... Including the tangerine Orange which seem close to what you may be looking for. Enjoy.
I'm glad it's not orange!
