On eBay, in Florida, with only 38,715 miles since restoration in 1999 for $32,888 including shipping anywhere in the US or Europe. Looks great in the pictures. I thought these went for way more than that. What's the catch?

I just read through all the plaid-wearing salesman-speak on the ad, and it looks like somebody took Grandpa's old (restored some time ago) 356 to the first place that either came to mind or that would offer cash.
That same wholesaler is selling pick-up trucks and an old Toyota Supra right now.
How about the flowery bullcrap ad, huh? Silky smooth. Power to the road. My personal favorite is the description of the car itself; it's a 356 Super 1600.
Hmmm.
It's probably a good deal for somebody, but I think that company should subcontract their advertising.
pretty low price for what it appears to be - it's possible, though, for some of these cars to be hiding some serious rot underneath newer paint and bondo, and it's pretty expensive and involved to fix it......I'd be looking for photos of the restoration process, the name of the restorer, etc......could be a great buy or just another 'nice looking' used car with a lot of problems......RickJ
I think the price is within reason for a '61 coupe maybe even a little high at 32k. these are not the most desirable of the 356 years and thus never commanded the higher prices particularly on the coupes. if it were a roadster or cabbie that would be a differnet story...but this is a coupe with what appears to be some non original mods.
Actually, this is not a bad price for this car. In the last year I have purchased a T5 and a T6 coupe in this price range and was able to sell them both for a small profit. It all depends on your marketplace and the condition of the car, of course. The early '60's coupes are still about the bottom of the price range but their price/value numbers are climbing faster than almost anything out there.

I am currently working on acquiring a '64 with a 912 motor. This car has not been out of the garage in 32 years and is rust free with an interior that looks like new. Been negotiating for some time now!

I have a '62 (T6) that I have had for a couple of years and have won quite a few shows with it and driven it about 4000 miles + trailered it to Texas and to Sedona, AZ, for the 356 West Coast National Holiday last October. I have been offered more than this for it and turned it down. Does that tell you anything about value?

To quote MUSBJIM .... I'm just sayin' ----------

Happy Trails,
Dusty (and the LMS)

First off, in addition to FELLING a lot better, I also feel a lot better; or at least did until Dusty came along and got me thinking about it again.
There is one thing that keeps me from getting serious about this car. I'm sure there are Porsche collectors on eBay that know way more about these than I do and are watching eBay constantly. I'm sure they would have been all over this if it was really that good of a deal.

Now there is a 61 Super 90 with a Buy It Now of $29,500!

I need to stay off of eBay.
