I just discovered something kinda cool, especially for anyone interested in making their interior just that little bit more "factory" looking and planning on using genuine 356 knobs instead of the old Beetle repros.

The knobs that came on the Karmann Ghia rear side pop-out windows can be made to look EXACTLY like the original 356 dash knobs with just a tiny bit of filler and a little sanding.

Really.

I did up a handful and can't tell them from the originals sitting on the shelf right beside 'em. With the cost of original 356 knobs WAY off the chart and the Ghia knobs pretty much free, I really had no choice.

I can take some pics and explain further if anyone's interested.

Or . . . not.

Hey thats great news TC!
Well, not really, it's no so great if you've already paid $17 a piece for the repro's and drilled the ends out and glued a nut to accept the thread of the VW switches and then painted them ivory because they're not available in anything but black, not if you've already done that.
That sure would have helped about 2 months ago. No worries. It wasn't THAT much to get the "original" looking dash set up. I think when all is said and done with the knobs and swithces I'll have put out around $100.
But for those of you who still have to beetle knobs shell out a little coin and get TC to do you a set of his dash knobs. I'm an interior freak and I can't stand seeing people spend all this money and still getting chince knobs and turn signal switches. I mean if you love that nostalgic feeling you get driving these cars nothing makes it better than looking at the dash and it's just like the original.
