Original oil filter

OK, guys, here is your chance to add a prop to your engine to make it look like a real 356 (see mine in the picture). I just put this up on eBay. If one of you on the forum wants it I will take it off the auction for $200.

Okay, Dusty. I may have a deal for you -- not on that one, but for a future consideration. Can you fab up a similar oil tank but with the goal of making a breather box out of it?
If so, can I call you sometime?

It could be done but would probably take too much "plumbing" to make it really look good. Notice on my motor I hve the original oil filler/breather fitted (not a real easy chore, either!) and it does a good job of venting oil downward and out. Would that work for you?

Dusty, after looking at your device, I called Carey (on an unrelated matter) and he had a line on a coffee-can-sized aluminum jobber that will absolutely answer the mail for me. I asked him to send one my way with the other stuff I was in need of.
I'll let you know how it goes -- it'll be in the "wrong" place, anyway, so yours would have looked odd. It'll be replacing the BugPack box in the middle of the firewall (below).
