I've had a mold made from an original speedster seat along with molded pads.
Seats are manufactured to military/aircraft standards by military contractor
I compared the Vintage and Becks seat to determine the differences and personally think that a replica of the original is much more comfortable, aesthetically more original and driver would sit lower in the car. Cushions are attached to the seat per original versus Velcro
Is this something that anyone would be interested in? Seat bases are altered reinforced with metal to allow fitting to Vintage, Becks or original speedster. I should have pictures of these completed & upholstered by the end of the week and will post for feedback and interest.

Thanks

Yes, I think quite a few people would be interested. Especially if you could provide measurements so that it can be reasonably determinded that the seat will fit in our individual cars. You might post the same info on the spyder site as quite a few of those cars use speedster like seats.

Advertising is for private sales between speedster owners - so if you are a comercial business their is a different procedure. Probably posted at top of pages.

Click on Registry, Read Detail, Photo's of Car, then Add Photo. If you aren't a paying donor then there is a size limit to what you can post.

The defense contractor and military standards kind of scare me of - what with MILSPEC $600 toilet seats and $300 hammers!
Having responded to many a local, state and federal government RFPs, each includes specific standards as defined in the particular RFP, or Req Order. If it is not specified in the RFP, it is not something you deliver. You can become listed as a non-responsive vendor, in most state and any federal process. It is the kiss of death. Your bid/quote is dead without being opened.

However, this reference must be to the expected quality. For example on of the standards for the Coast Guard 12 guage shotgun programs was that the Mossberg defender 12 guage was to fire 10,000 rounds with no malfunction. Only the stainless steel 'defender' qualified.

Of interest here is what are these seats made of? composite or aluminum.
Oh MAN ! ! ! What a wonderful Christmas present ! ! ! There's a good chance that we'll be going to to GA to grab a TR8 body shell soon, I'm gonna have to search out a handful of pairs.

Speaking of which, if the guy holds true to his plan and we end up going down for the shell, we'll be traveling empty from MA to GA. Anyone need a car brought South? Only cost gas money.
If I kept 1/2 of the interesting cars I've had I could buy a pretty nice house about now. I bought it from a garage because the original owner had had it towed there because of an anti freeze leak. The wise garage owner said--"yep cracked head". Owner choose not to pay and gave the car to the garage. I bought it for $700., put in a new freeze out plug and I was on my way....
Water under the bridge. I'm gonna go cry in my beer now.
I'd like to place an order for a Mil-Spec TC to drop by the casa for an evening of shooting the breeze and a go-kart ride.
I'd also like to know how much frigging money to set aside for some seats. Howzabout it there, Gordon "Carerra Speedster" guy?
I'm using JEG's seats right now. Anything would be more comfortable. My can is about three inches across -- so I could care less how wide the seats are!
alright, seeing as this guy has dropped off the face of the earth, can anyone recommend a seat that works? as i mentioned in my previous post, the v.s. seat seamed to bend and buckle when i turned corners...way uncool. it also gave me a back cramp after sitting on them for an hour or so. i'd love to get seats with some legroom, i just need them to work.
I found the early style Beck seat surprisingly comfortable for the 750 mile drive from Charleston to Carlisle. I'm right at 6 feet and Carey was able to move the seat rails back an inch for me. It's quite comfortable, but I'm not sure how your car's frame would affect things. They've since change the seat to look more like the originals, so I can't vouch for their comfort or rigidity. Still, it'd be worth contacting Carey Hines at Special Edition and seeing if he could hook you up with either the older seats or the new ones..
