I have a few questions....
1. how is a 20K miles car that is over 10 years old worth 22K, when a brand new VS cost
about 24K...
2. California plates on a texas car, leads me to beleave the pic's are not recent....
3. What would the Brother-in-law price be......14K perhaps...
1. I'm sure you can get a brand new one for $24k...but I'm sure that would be a basic model without all the add-ons.
2. The pics were taken this afternoon. I bought personalized Texas tags that read THE 356, but never put them on the car. I think the CA tags look better than the crappy Texas issued tags.
3. The SOC price is $20k which is what I expect to get after "wheeling & dealing" with would-be buyers.
Any other questions?
Oscar nice car but like the evil one mentioned that's a lot of dorayme for a 10 year old VS with a 50hp motor. Maybe Troy the used VS expert will chime in.
Mr. Pilot
Half the "add-ons" you mention are basic things, If I'm not mistaken Kirk also uses a 1915 as a
standard motor these days, & if not, it is an upgrade for little money difference...
I do hope you get what you want for your tub, it looks very clean, we all want as much as possible when we sell, but I don't think it will happen here on the SOC....
My guess is 16K tops....
$20-$22k for THIS car is not too out of line.
Clean machine "Pilot".
Respecfully, there's a car that just sold for exactly what your asking for. It was just built by VS this year 2012 and had 725 mies on it. Take a look it still on the front page of the classifieds. I personal still think the car i'm referring to wasn't worth 22,000. I offered him 21,000 he said yes until someone abviously offered him more.
I'm going to leave it at $22k for a while just to get a feel for the market. If I need to drop the price at a later date I will. At this point, selling the car is not an absolute necessity...I would just like to move on to another project soon (maybe a Beck 550 Spyder ).

It does have a very nice set of my "Cruzin" windows, so that makes it worth at least $20k right there! <---I hate these graemlins things, but sometimes you need to use them or someone will think you are serious.
I'm all for keeping those used Speedster prices as high as possible.
Great looking speedster. I love the color.
I don't think the price is too far off.
Whoever buys it will do so because of the color combo. They'll feel like I do: silver, black, red and ivory are boring.
Good luck with the sale!
bah, blah, blah... They'll feel like I do: silver, black, red and ivory are boring. Blah, blah, blah
Sacrilege!
FYI, and take it with a grain of salt. I bought mine in New Braunfels for about half of your price. A CMC, with a built motor, and in good shape. It's on a 70 pan, but TX titled it as a 57 Porsche, with the CMC S/N.
In Houston there's two, a red , wide body for $12,500 and a black tub for $19,999. They have been on Craigslist a LONG time. Heck, they don't even answer emails anymore about them, but they're still posted. Your car is sweet, but not that sweet. A more realistic number, and a better economy, it would sell.
My .02 from Central TX.
I'm with the CAF, but not a pilot, Ground support.
Dropped it to $19,999...thanks for all the advice!
I second that's is a cool color.
I have driven this car and it is SWEET! The engine has the nicest sound I ever hear from a Type I and the color is special. Completely sorted and ready for the road. Someone is gonna get a very nice Spedster.
I am sorry to see this on the market.
tudynelson - I offered $22,000 and bought the car. I agree, it was a top price purchase, but it was impossible to resist. I certainly can't see this 10 year old 356 bringing much over $16K if that. There are too many on the market - unless he finds the right buyer. Good luck with the sale.
Yeah, congratulations on your new purchase, very nice car. At this point, My mind is set on having a newly remanufactured car made from VS. Not unless a very good deal comes along ? You know you still can't go wrong with the purchase you made, it's a newly remanufactured car for a few thousand dollars less, as long as you like the colors.
Enjoy your car. Later, Art..... or displayed name tudynelson.
$20k will likely be very high for this site, but probably would sell on e-bay quickly during the summer. I was quoted $22k for a new VS about a year ago, with the 1915 option being another $1,000. I can't remember which month and that may make the price change. I paid a fairly high price for a used VS, but it had a ton of upgrades, and was customized for a tall person. OP, don't take offense to any of the posts, people here are trying to help in general.
