Hi,, I am new to this site,, and very glad to have found it. I have the CMC 359 Speedster kit, and would be interested in contacting other 359'ers. They were mainly offered through CMC, but I think that ThunderRanch did some work with the kit too. I see only 4 or 5 kits a year pop up on E-bay, so they are still out there.
If you own one,,, give me an e-shout !!

Mike's blue 359 looks great in that color. It would be nice to see it finished up. Hey,, does anyone have suggestion for making a door travel limiter ?? I don't want anyone to accidentaly throw the door open to fast and crack up the front seam lip of the door. I guess the wind could do the same damage as well. I was thinking about making a loop of seatbelt webbing,,, but I am sure there are a few tried and tested methods ??
thanks,
Catmandu
The "traditional" method of door stopping would use a short length of leather in place of the webbing. This may be more true of English cars than German, but then if it doesn't weather, prematurely wear out, leak, or generally operate in some quirky manner, it's not English.

Classic...traditional...legacy...antiquated...laughable...insane. Either these terms are a continuum or interchangeable; not sure which.
Hi Mike,,
Just curious,, do you still have your 359 ?? I bought mine here in Canada,, which avoided a whole bunch of trans-border complications. Since then,, I have come across half a dozen 359's,, in various stages of completion. Since mine was drivable,, when I bought it,, I have been to really enjoy upgrading it gradually,, while staying inside my budget. I am planning to post photo's of the various 359's that I have encountered, on my photo page,, including a few of yours,, if you don't mind ?? Creating a kind of 359 photo collection.
thanks,
Alan
Just saw this 359 kit listed on Ebay

It is the version produced by ThunderRanch,,, and not the normal model made by CMC. The seller was kind enough to send me the article written by Jim Youngs, and it looks like TR had some excellent refinements in mind. I will try to post the article in the Knowlege base. If I was starting from square one,, this kit looks like an excellent oppertunity.
