Since my 356 is finsished and much faster then I expected and have started on another project. I purchased a unfinished thunderranch Riot. Car is painted and on already mounted on a restored pan. The car was disasembled for paint and then left to rot. Got the car up to snuff over the last few day's, and will be finished with rebuild in the next few week's.

All that is except for the motor, I figure that I need ~75hp to get into the high 15 sec quarter with a 1350 pound car plus 155 pound me. ~120 or so to the rear wheels to get into the high 13's low 14's. So looking at motor's other then the typical VW one for cost and two for a more reliable long distance cruiser. (unless you guys think that I can get a decently built VW one for under 1K)

So looking at the kennedy website I got a lot of choices. The restriction's are it must be light, IE no more bracing in the engine compartment.

~100 hp +/- 20 or so.
Cheap to buy or find, and it must be simple to wire or tune. (would prefer carb's

The subi 2.2's have to much power and that was my first though. Thinking something honda but that would require pulling the tranny and flipping the gearing in it. So anybody got a opinion on what to look for. Maybe a baby ford 2.0.

I am purposefully doing this car on a budget as I have three or four people helping me with it to get there feet into the kit far world and would like to show them that you can build something nice with a little work. 1000 bucks has been put aside for the engine/adapter so I have about 500 or so to get a motor with all the fixing's. Personally I expect to go over budget by at least 500 or so on this part of the car but I would like to do this as cheap as possible.

I have spent 3 days on the windsheild, I thought that I was going to go insane. I am going to talk to Tom someday about this as it really pisses me off.

It gives the car a very unfinished look if you follow the manual. I used 6 tubes of cement and I still have to do the finish work. The windsheild will never pop out though, and I gave it 1/8 inch spacers around the whole edge so it should be safe from cracking. Personally I bound the windshield and then am using a much less sticky black caulk to do the final finish.

As for the wind I can only assume from the 1300 lb expected weight that it will be dificult to drive on the freeway. I will be adding a cage through which will hopefully add about 100+ pounds to the car and give me some tie in's for the harnesses.

Any other suggestion's or if anybody has a 1600/1776 kicking around give me a email.
