1957 Vintage Speedsters(Speedster)

Those VIN plates on the hinge covers are repros, the numbers were never struck like that on the originals, nor were the tags attached with that kind of rivet. Kind of a big WATCH OUT sign. Nobody pays real money for a car with the wrong engine.

But . . it IS a Speedster and it IS Ebay and there are a LOT of rich folks in Europe these days . . .

Wow, those rivits are huge. And the way the front bumper fits (a little too close on the left front) Poor body work for that money.
Also look at the right horn grill and the underside of the hood (frame work bent in a couple of spots.)
Man the list goes on. not to mention the crap after market exhaust.

At that price or for ant price just tell the truth.....
Those rivets will scare anybody away. The factory rosette rivets are really hard to fake; you pretty much have to take the hinge cover plate off with a saw and grind the back of the plate down to surgically remove them. AND you'd have to be one crafty mo-fo to put the plates back on the car using the nubbins.
Even so, putting them on a car like that is wrong. I'd have to order another set and start over.
FWIW, there are some cool points, like how the top is attached. How come we can't do that? Is it some neat little crimped and inverted rain gutter that traps the canvas in the back, or what? The only fasteners I see are the ones (I'd guess) the tonneau attaches to ... ?
