Just in case anyone is interested in a really cool item. I just placed an order/reservation for one. They have a cool vintage look to them AND they're Outlaw Quality ! !

What is the proper hardware to mount badges on the grill?
Thanks,
Marty
Thanks,
Marty
Marty,
I have had success using velcro. Just wrap the blade area and the back of the badge and your done. You can't see it, it gives you the option of easily changing badges in 5 seconds, doesn't vibrate loose, and holds the badge like crazy. I took the grill off to apply it just to make it real secure and then just used a short brass nut and screw in the the badge holes to make it look complete.

My badge and decal just arrived yesterday, and they're even better than the picture made them look. REALLY SWEET ! ! ! ! !
Very vintage looking with raised edging and brass and cloisenee and everything. Classy and beautiful and yet Outlaw Perfect ! ! ! !
The brass screws, washers and locking nuts that came with my PCA badge will fit it perfectly and hold it securely to the grill. It WAS destined for the SC but it's SO NEAT that it's going on the Pre-A instead.
I urge everyone NOT to buy one, I'd much prefer to be the only cool guy here!
I'm sticking my tongue out at you all right now, you just can't see me 'cause I've covered up the computer screen. I'm no fool . . .

Gerd,
The screws have nothing to do with the velcro application, just appearence. Just put the screw thru the screw holes in the front of the badge and secure with a lock washer and nut on the back side. I'll take some pics later and post them.

Gerd, here is a shot. The paper towel is just for contrast. I did place a thin piece of sheet metal between the velcro and the grill blades to keep the velcro from dipping between the blades. Probably overkill. When I removed the badge for the shot it was like it was welded on, and it has been on there for over 2 years, so if you do it right it is pretty much failsafe.

One of my "buddies", Christopher Toy, from 356 Registry Talk is manufacturing a limited number of "OUTLAW" scripts, in the exact font and style of the "Porsche" front and rear scripts. Gold plated brass like the original "Porsche" with the same under cuts between the letters. I've seen pics and it perfection ! ! !
I'm gonna grab up one of 'em, when I hear more I'll let you all know if anyone is interested. Like the Outlaw grill badge, the emblem will go one the Pre-A. probably replacing the original "Porsche" lettering.
I have a pic of it, but don't know how to post it.

Hopefully, those work out better than the ones I ordered and never received from a company in Australia. Those guys took FOREVER to refund my money. Remember that?
Anyway, sign us up for at least one. Whenever we get around to paint, we'll likely be ditching all the scripts on the outside of the car, keeping the orange-and-gold Speedster script on the dash and adding only that 'Outlaw' to the rear hatch. Should be beautifully simple when it gets to that point.
I'm undecided on the Porsche hood emblem. We'll see what happens when we come to that point.

TC-
I'd really like one of the "outlaw" scripts as well. Can you put me in touch with whomever I need to speak with?
Thanks- and happy Thanksgiving.

I just picked mine from the seller this morning. It is a very good quality and the seller is very nice. He has the "real" 1959-356 Coupe, but he doesn't mind the replicas. I invited him to check out his site.

Luck,

When the email reaches his box, it will probably have my address attached since this link went through my membership. Be sure to include your own contact information/email address when you get in touch, OK ?
Otherwise he won't know who to get back to, you know?

TC, I signed up with the Registry and sent him an e-mail. We'll see where it goes.
I put some photos up, too -- since you're there fairly often, could you keep me aware of any commentary?
I didn't mention my VIN.

Sorry Guys,
The link probably only works 'cause I'm always signed in over there. If anyone is really interested, his name is Christopher Toy. Just pop over and sign up (it's free) and send him a PM or Email.
Honestly, it's a good forum to belong to; a little stuffy but lots of slick information and a nice parts for sale and wanted section for sure.
TC
And NOW I got Cory, of ALL people, bustin' in on my "vacation spot" leaving me messages and posting his damned pictures. Like I have time for this shit . . . I tell ya, he's gonna get himself in some deep shit over there with his Swiss Army Car ! !
