Bill, the vulnerability of the front of these replicas is a worrisome fact. That locomotive cattle guard certainly looks like 'low speed protection'...but I agree with Merklin that it appears much too bulky to be aesthetically pleasing.

My '59 coupe had nerf bars but with a slightly curving, chromed, horizontal bracing bar attached to the two uprights...clean, subtle, attractive, front-end bump protection. Its practicality was never appreciated by the purists at 356 Registry gatherings. But their low slung "A" bumpers simply maintained factory authenticity and were of minimal protection...That's why an expensive option for the  A's  were wrap-around braced  bumper guards, and why bumpers were eventually raised on the "B & C" years.

I agree that it might be prudent to get it photoshopped onto a photo of your car to see how it looks.  Ya nevah know - it might look cool, at least to YOU.

Ya think?

Personally, I just use my Marchal driving lights and Nerf Bars as "bumpers".  Of course, the "purists" don't like my Fuchs, either, but whatta THEY know?   THEY think it's cool to  have matching luggage!

One guy at this event (Porsche Day" at Boston's Museum of Transportation) appreciated my light mounts - thought they were true "Outlaw".  Made me feel downright "Emory" for a few minutes.......
