Hopefully everyone who attended the post COVID 2021 WCC had a great time. Our scaled down event went off without a hitch. We ended up with 12 cars and 20 people in attendance. The lower number obviously made it a much more intimate affair. On Friday evening we took over one corner of the hotel courtyard and talked into the late hours of the evening enjoying adult beverages from the hotel bar. I put all of the drinks on @Former Member's tab so the drinks were free all night. Saturday morning most everyone had the free breakfast and coffee and at 9:00 am we met at the San Luis Obispo Veterans' Hall for the pre-rally meeting. I was talking to someone and when @Troy Sloan pulled onto the lot I could hear the familiar sounds of a foreign object in a tire. i looked over and saw he had a low rear tire so we had to get that fixed pre-rally. A big thanks to Dave aka @Butcher Boy for loading up the ruined tire and Troy Salon and getting them over to the tire shop for a repair. Musbjim took lots of photos and Sally Sloan was doing video as we all departed. I realize now we forgot to take our group photo, bummer.
We left the VFW Hall at about 9:45 am and did the first 55 miles in about an hour and 10 minutes. The drive meandered through the Paso Robles countryside with views of pastureland, grape vineyards, orchards, vast fields of hay, stables, more vineyards, windmills, and numerous wineries.
At about 11:15 am we arrived at California Coast Brewing Company to stretch our legs and fill our tummies with some delicious Mexican food cooked onsite by one of the local eateries. We also enjoyed some tasty craft beer and local wine. We hit the road again at about 1:00 pm traversing through the city streets and out the west end of town toward the coastal mountain range. Once we hit the coastline the temperatures dropped into the low 70's, maybe high 60's, and the warmer weather was behind us.
Once back at the hotel everyone got showered and cleaned up and we all met back in the courtyard in the same spot we took over the night before. Musbjim and I bought pizza for the whole crew and we broke bread and shared our experiences from the day. @Napa Paul and a few more of us brought some SWAG so we had a mini-raffle. $20.00 got you 5 tickets and winners chose their prize. There was a nice silver helmet and googles so @Ryan (formerly) in NorCal bought A LOT of tickets so he could win it. And once again at the end of the raffle all the tickets went back in the hat and we raffled off the cash. $40 third prize, $60 second prize, and $100 first prize.
Everyone will post some photos soon and Musbjim will put together a 2021 WCC video for us.
I want to thank @OCC, @Ryan (formerly) in NorCal, and @Napa Paul for helping round out the activities and make this year a success AGAIN.
