I am thinking about a tour through Northeast Oregon for next Summer or Fall. I have found what I think would make a wonderful 2 - 2 1/2 day drive. I need to know if there would be enough interest to proceed with researching lodging, food, and fuel availability. I know there are a few hardy Oregon souls, Scott S., and some of our Canadian friends who would consider such a trip.
Starting in La Grande, which is roughly 250 mi east of Portland on I-84, there is a 130 mi Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. We would finish the day in or near Baker City. The next day would be the Blue Mountain Scenic Byway which is about 220 mi. We would end up back at I-84 between Arlington and Hermiston for final farewells.

Lots of scenery and winding roads. I am posting this to see if there would be enough interest to proceed with making plans.

It's sunny and about 26 degrees here today. Most of the streets in the Portland area are iced over. So, what better time to think again about a Northwest Tour? The attached map is of a scenic loop through the very scenic Hells Canyon area. Total miles are only about 240, plus the distance from wherever you come. The loop itself could be stretched over three days if folks want to make several stops and play tourist. I'm sure it could be easily condensed into a two day loop.
I would like to know if there are at least five intrepid souls who would be interested in making this trip in late August or early September. I think this is an opportunity to experience some spectacular scenery and nice roads. I know it's a distance from most of the SOC members, but many of you make long trips to other events, so I'm hoping...
