Filled in dash gauge holes (from big CMC Vintage gauges to VDO generic) and reduced defrost vent size (12" to 4" - using 2 VW T1 ducts). So now need to recover the upper dash. CMC says glue vinyl to directly fiberglass - other vendors seem to have a padded upper dash. I have some 1/4" closed cell foam and some 1/8 sound foam. Thoughts on using either? Need to then decide what to do to dash face where gauges mount - cover with vinyl? cover with tooled metal look or carbon fiber thin film? or paint it? If I use vinyl on face should it be padded?
