Padding

I'm wondering if someone out there can recomend a material,like vinal or firm rubber padding that I'm planning on having under the mounting lip of my plexi windscreen. It has to be firm enough to support the screen without allowing the plastic lip to bend and brake, and soft and pliable enought to follow the arc the plexi-windscreen makes from one side of the car to the other.
