Does Dr. Brett Johnson's book, THE 356 PORSCHE, A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity, include an actual color chart? I've seen the color charts posted here from DerWhite Productions and the colors are so far off that they are not a true representation of the original colors. Would this book provide actual colors?

Wally,

The book lists the colors but does not include a color chip. I think I may have a problem in my case of the years that colors were available. I think this is a grey area, years and colors. My car is the Signal/Guards red and supposedly that was a 56 color but not a 57. My platoon Sgt in 58 had a Signal red Speedster, brand new, he brought over from Germany. That Speedster was either a 57 or 58, not a 56. I think some of the books colors are right but others are questionable. I guess it is a good starting point.

Yes, I noticed the same thing. Visiting the various club sites and looking at photos, I didn't see anyone really following the year/color charts. I see so many slight variations of the OEM colors that it is hard to tell what is 'factory'. That's why I was hoping that I could locate a resource with actual colors.
