I thought it was on here, but maybe I'm wrong. I looked for a while, but can't find mikeTR550, or some similar handle. I want his white paint code to use on my car, but can't seem to locate him. There doesn't seem to be an email either, or maybe I am just dumb today!

Angela, I could never paint a car in Steve's color, I have too much respect for him! Plus I vowed to never own a black car again.....

White it WILL be, 'cause I LIKE it. I may shoot myself later, but that's what I want. American owned sports cars of the fifties were often white, 'nuff said.

At least it won't be pimp pink, like Gerd's car!
How about NOOOOO!

I have always liked Bruce's(ECB) vintage-racer theme, and like I said before, a LOT of American-owned sports cars in the 50s and 60s were painted white. I like silver, I am just tired of seeing every single Spyder done that way. So I am thinking white, with RED darts and some gumballs, maybe even some different stickers on it, we'll see.

Just remember, it's MY canvass, and as long as I'm happy, well, that's all that matters, right?

Scott, good links that some of us Spyderclub members already have. Thanks, lots of food for thought there.

Thanks Larry, I thought I saw him on here, but not over there!
Pip-Meister!

Just like there are LOTS of different "black" variations, there are LOTS of different shades of "white", not to mention variations of white pearls. I've often parked Pearl amongst a bunch of "real", white 356's and they're all different shades of white.

When I found the color for "Pearl", I found that there were 47 different variations of "pearl white" in the color books. Some have a silver sheen, some gold, some blue, some gray, some shades of red and on and on. The amount of sheen comes from how much pearl micro-sequine additive you throw in - totally variable.

Then you get into accent colors, like those often-copied, tear-drop thingies from the headlights back. I often thought that a 550 would look cool with side coves like on an Austin Healey or Corvette, but have never played with Photoshop to see if it would look hideous or not (ya never know til ya see it).

So get going with a few pictures of your car, play with color changes in Photoshop and see what might look cool that hasn't been done before. Hey! Chip Foose does this all the time! Try something different in Photoshop BEFORE you start shooting color onto fiberglass!

Chris and I saw a 356 Speedster done in a really cool variation of sea mist green at Watkins Glen and it looked awesome. We also saw a 356 coupe in an off-shade of brown and it looked awesome, too. You never know what'll look really classic until you mess with it.

Good luck. Just don't go for "Arctic White". It'll make it look like a Kelvinator Refridgerator...........(sorry, Alan...)

Roger that, Gordon.

Back about 20 years ago, I did a '77 Scirocco in Alpine White, and the original color was Diamond Silver Metallic! Funny, huh?

Anyway, I put a Zender front airdam on it and a small rear lip spoiler. Lowered it and put GTI wheels and red Scirocco S badges on it. I also found some belt molding about an inch wide that continued the line from the bumpers down the body. The car was dechromed except for bumpers, all else black trim. I thought it looked awesome, and so did my friends. But there was one guy(my boss) who called it the "Frigidaire"! Of course that was before any trim was put back on it.

Also had a rebuilt motor(bored and stroked by me), headers and Leistritz, vented GTI brakes, sport shocks/springs(Boge turbo TS). Put in a 5 speed and cruise control. That car handled better than any other car I've had. Also rode stiff as hell, the price we pay!

I guess I will have to get Photoshop and mess around. I have a bunch of white Spyder pics in books, I'll take some low res pics and post them up.
Gotcha! I am getting going on mine too. I should have Tenax snaps soon for the top. Still need to mount front jack points(show only), dash grab handle, emblems and defrost vents. I want to add another bolt for the headrest too so it doesn't rotate. Also need to fit correct license light instead of the Ghia-like one on there. Then it's strippin' time.

Remove gauges, windshield, lights, grills, seats, scripts, snaps and carpets. That should do it, and I guess I should probably drain the tank too, since it's about full.
