Since the young lad confirmed on the telephone this morning that he was DOING BODYWORK on HIS car THAT HE DOESN'T PLAN ON SELLING, I decided to create an image-heavy thread for his paint decision ... which he might or might not make before next March.
The first one is orange (pursuant to last week's thoughts) but the second one is the scheme I had in mind for you this morning:

OK, take that 356 coupe and add teardrop shaped sweeps from around the headlights back across the tops of the fenders - a contrasting color would be cool. Don't know about those side stripes, but something funky across the doors would be interesting...shadow flames?

Copper base coat like in the first post, and maybe something for accents that pops...hmmmmmmm.......Turquoise??....no.....Teal!

Oh.....and keep the Fuchs.....

Since this is a flared speedster, I'm considering the following:

GM white w/ Vette torch red interior.

"Harley Edition"
Black with black w/ some brushed aluminum trim & orange piping and misc Harley appointments from the local HD shop.

Tangerine orange metallic w/ twin "GM" race stripes, race theme interior.

Grass green metallic, beige gut.

Dark blue w/ white& blue interior.

...All with the double hump stainless roll bar I did previously.

Go for a real I-don't-care-what-you-think-about-my-car outlaw look with a satin black finish, blacked-out wheels and a bunch of those 'bullet-hole' decals on the side and a bumper sticker that says F*** You, You F***ing F***!! (Well, OK, maybe without the provocative sticker!). LOL - I crack myself up!! Come to think of it, that description could almost be the infamous 'Butch'.

Cory - go with your initial gut feeling. It's like going into a restaurant jonesing for a good burger, then get handed a menu with a hundred choices (they all look kinda yummy) so you decide on a fancy looking foo-foo sandwich. You start eating the sandwich and think to yourself "...I shoulda got the burger!".

...I'm just saying...
"... it's gonna be re sale red
with black interior ..."

Come on, Kim. No way. He did body work!

How about the first guy in this string of pictures, but with those fender teardrops instead of a stripe?

Or a modification on your white and blue theme?

This has long been a personal favorite theme of mine, complete with "tin Moth" attack marks:

I'm just sayin' ...
This is a little over the top, even for you, Al. Ghost flames of a different sort, but using exactly your burnt orange, black rallye stripes and ... ghosts in the flames:

Disregard the ghosts in the firey-looking flames, and concentrate on the more traditional ghost flames in the orange part of the hood. Really subtle.
Looks great, regardless. I use MS Paint for my non-technical drivel, and it almost never comes out cleanly. I wish I had spent the time to learn Photoshop along the way.

Meanwhile, back at the old paint booth, Alan, here's another one. Parnelli Jones is my hero; no secret there. Waaaay back in the day (you were probably only in your 50s then :
I'm thinking Candy Apple Red and Midnight Blue Metallic (or whatever):

Or, 'cuz you gotta be you:

This would be considered bad luck on a bike, but:

But maybe this would suit you instead, Herr Deutschelander:

Here's an idea you could play with using your orange and black combo -- if you vented the rear brakes:
