Do that on a speedster and it will weight as much as the donor VW Beetle. I have seen this done on Wrangler Jeeps and it looks great.
With some of the best 4x4 roads in the country right here in the Central Valley several of our local 4 wheelers have done this with great success. A few I know have used this on the floor boards as well. It is very durable and if used on the inside it washes off easily, just make sure you have some drain holes.
