Decided to paint my rusty tri-mil exhaust. Car is only a couple of hrs old and never seen salt but it was pretty bad. Wire brushed it, sanded it down and then added a few coats of primer and few coats of paint. Used the VHT flame proof 2000 degree paint from my FLAPS then cured it via the directions on the can. Figured this will get me by until I buy another exhaust when I upgrade my engine. Exhaust looks crooked but that is the angle of the picture.

The business end of that hose clamp seems to be the low spot on the whole shebang. Any chance to improve that ? Nice car....
Agreed, David. That could end badly, those hoses will lose the battle, and it will be short indeed!
Agreed, why vintage decided to route them like that is anyone’s guess. As the summer heats up here in TX, I am most likely going to have to move my oil cooler to the wheel well and upgrade it to setrab and then the lines will be re-done.
James that came out very nice. I need to do mine, it's however a faux / empi. Thanks, for the post and Pics!
Thanks for all the compliments, it was bugging me and I was bored today so it got done.
Also got it back a couple of weeks ago after paint correction and CQUARTZ treatment. Paint really pops now.
Tomorrow is the infamous Terry knuckle decklid prop.

Looks great!
I've been painting my Berg extractor for the past 20 years. Either VHT satin black or Weber BBQ paint, depending on the year. Both work well.
Thanks for posting this, James. Let us know how it stands up. I've never heard of any one priming before the high heat paint; I've always thought primer would burn off and render the high heat coating pointless. I'm interested in how long it lasts. Al
Will do Al, and it wasn’t that clear in my original post, I also used the VHT flameproof primer as well.
I am curious to see how long it lasts as well. My expectation is that it is a year or a bit longer before I have to do it again, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. If it does burn off I am ok with it, as I hope to have a new engine and exhaust by then.
Thanks, James, I didn't know the flameproof primer existed. I've already learned something and the day is still very young! And now it's back to bed for an hour or so before I actually start the day. Damn cats and their 4AM Grand Prix....
Knuckles vent done, thanks for the idea Terry!
