I searched the forum today for any post relating to painted rims and could only find information related to chrome and silver powder-coated rims. Does anyone know if Speedsters ever came with rims painted the same color as the body?

I was cruzing the internet this weekend and came across of few pictures of some older ('53, '54) 356's with baby moons and rims painted to match the car. I think that gives a more classic look, but don't know if this practice (painting rims same color as car) occured in '56 - '58.

Can someone please advise. Does anyone have rims painted the same color as your car?

Regards.

You are correct - early pre-A's were supplied with painted wheels, however silver rims were found on red and blue speedsters. For 356A's (according to Brett Johnson's Guide to Authenticity, p76):

"The 356A was equipped with 4 1/2 x 15 inch slotted wheels that could be supplied either primed, silver-painted or chrome plated. The fact that they were available primed implied that colours other than silver were offered on 356A's, as on earlier cars"

I hope this helps you out. I might add this book is an excellent reference for points of detail on all 356 models.
