There aren’t many shops worth recommending, no matter what they sell or service. But I’ve had an exceptional experience with Palo Alto Speedometer which made VDO replicas to replace the Chinese gauges that came with my car. The company’s attention to detail and follow up was impressive. I even had an issue on Sunday, sent an email, and got a response within an hour. Not cheap, but the rare case of getting what you pay for and being worth it.

Not cheap is right..... they want a ridiculous $300 plus shipping to re-calibrate and reface a VDO speedster speedo from KPH to mph.
Did you get a quote from North Hollywood Speedometers? They are of the same caliber as Palo Alto.
I've used both PAS and NHS -- I'd never, ever use NHS again. Since they've come under new ownership over a year ago, the customer service has suffered significantly.
Nisonger on Long Island (East Coast) is just as good, too, although they do Smiths and other European gauges, but not VDO.
In my experience PAS/ Hartmut is great to work with, and the quality of his work, communication, time spend on educating you on possible options/cost, and customer support is awesome. Worth the $$$ IMHO.
On east coast there's -
VDO North America, 188 Brooke Rd, Winchester VA 22603 (540)665.0100
Greg , do they refurbish Porsche like speedometers ?
I think they may have closed and moved elsewhere.
