Hello All,

1st time poster, 6-month lurker. Would anyone be able to post the dimensions of their parcel shelf, as well as perhaps any space in between the shelf and their seats, fully back and reclined? This is specifically for Speedster and Convertible D owners.

I've sold our R107 Sl weekend car and, after months of ruminating over an E9 coupe, TR6 modified, or a new Boxter, the wife and I've decided on either a Speedster or D recreation. However, 1 stipulation she demands is that our goofy Boxer dog must fit in the back.

So, if anyone has the length and width of their shelves, along with the height from shelf to the bodywork, it'd be greatly appreciated. Also, if you'd care to share which vendor your car's from, that'll assist my research. I've currently chat with both JPS and IM.

In the Mercedes, I built a shelf extension that fit between the parcel and the front seat backs that straddles the Trans hump; I'd like to do the same with our future car if possible.

Finally, thanks to all the helpful members on this board. The wealth of info here is invaluable.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks to all for your replies. SrBlower, that helps, I assume our pooches our similarly-sized. Doakes the dog loved the R107, so I'm hoping we can fabricate something similar for him.

MustbJim, your friend Marty has a dog whose head is an orange on a toothpick! a handsome
Boy for sure.

If I could figure out how to attach jpg's of Doakes riding in our cars  on the mobile site with my phone, I would; I'll do so when back home this evening.

If anyone has time to measure the back shelf/bench area, please feel free. Or, if you want to share photos of your furry buddies in your cars, we'd live that. I sent a link of marty and his dog to my wife, and she howled and cooed.

Come to think of it, why not a thread with car photos in general, and another with cars, owners, and furry friends? I searched but was unable to find either. Show and trll is lovely.

Thanks again gents/ladies.

Hi Willie P,

Thank you for your assistance. I've sent Henry over at IM an email specifically about this; we'd prefer a convertible D or Roadster, but are concerned about the parcel dimensions for all the cars, and the hood arrangement on the Roadster particularly (blocking his goofy head).  The zip-out window, for when we drive with the top up, would be a wonderful bonus.

Thanks again for the help.

Jeff, I will post some pics later today and have dimensions. It seems that the boxer would be fine sitting sideways without the cover on. The tonneau/cover is made to cover any luggage that is stored on the shelf. You could have a custom cover made so that it would leave room for you mutt! My Boxers would have loved to ride in my IM. The last one I had rode with me in my VW Thing her whole life.
