Parking Light Removal ??

Hi All, Newbie question here..

I'd like to remove my parking light bulbs and spray them amber.
Thinking the two screws on the headlamp trim were holding them in place I tried unscrewing them. Well, turns out that I now need to re-aim my headlights..oh well.

How do I go about removing the parking light bulbs from my headlight buckets?

On my CMC its a chrome bolt (Screw at the very bottom -it goes thru the FG on the outside of the actual bucket. There is a bent piece of metal at the top on inside of bucket that catches the top of the chrome rim.

Larger truck stops have the semi transparent amber bulbs

I did remove the large screw at the base of the headlight but it didn't seem to loosen the bucket. I'll try it again and see if I can't work it loose.

Alan, perhaps those bulbs are avilable in the larger auto-parts chain stores? Pep Boys, AutoZone....

Assuming your headlamp bucket is installed as ours, with the metal tabs retaining the assembly...

Remove that lower bolt/screw. Grasp the headlamp assembly at the 3 and 9 o'clock position, squeeze gently. You are trying to "oval" the outer side of it. This is usually what you have to do to get it to pop off the metal retaining tab.

Be careful, the next thing it tries to do is come apart completely and throw itself, glass side down, on the garage floor...

Fred they are kinda hard to find but I have seen them in the Truck Stops

If you are going to take the buckets apart it's a good time to install homemade headlight screens; removing and replacing the buckets is the toughest part of the job.

I was thinking while I have them out I'd look into upgrading to an H4 lighting system. My stock light output is definately "weak" or should I say "period correct". Painless Performance has some neat plu-n-play upgrade packages.
